    Unless you have a friend who can lend you the install DVD that's the best place to get it.

    ive hopefully managed to get it sorted without a reinstall.. i went over to the sevenforums and asked the question there, someone suggested i do a boot time virus scan, sure enough it picked something up that was left over. no idea where it came from but hopefully its gone now... laptop running smooth and slow.. ill stress test it later but thats enough for one night. thanks for the input guys

    This may sound really stupid, but I know I've forgotten it a couple of times and it's usually what kills my CPU: Is your batter setting set to High Performance and not Power Saver?
