Where is the best place in the US for a DJ to live?

I'm down and could possibly bring a few acts up with me. I'll be back from New Zealand come June 8th so any time after that i'm open so far with the exception of July 4th weekend unless the Bay area gig is sweeter.

Wow, thanks everyone... Really positive responses, I appreciate it more than you guys know.

@BentoSan - a good friend of mine is an OT in Perth. If I ever make it out there to visit her we'll have to kick it.

I've already been looking pretty hard at the West Coast. Bay area, specifically, as I've got some family living out there which is a great help when going to a new place. The positive reviews of SF are really encouraging. I actually grew up in Dallas, and I can confirm the recommendations for Austin. Great town for music and arts.

man NY is such a pain in the ass for DJing. I had so much sucess in Japan and trying to get a name for myself in NY is a fucking pain. Ive been branching out with the types of music i want to spin, but still, its all hiphop/rap. Im a bass kind of guy and the hard dance scene is lacking in NY, not to mention alot of the DJ's out here shouldnt be DJing, but hey they know people so they get the gigs, thems the ropes. DJing in Vegas would be cool, the dance scene is solid there. I would love to spin in SF for a bit. But if it were up to me Id spin in the UK or go back to Japan.

not only sf but i would say the whole bay area dance/club/electro scene is blowin up right now. ive gone to alot of really good parties in berkeley, san jose, san francisco, and other surrounding areas lately. definitely cant complain.
