Whats happening to this forum?

People (theoretically) learn things and change opinions at least as fast as new gear comes out…

If it's relevant to an existing topic, post in the existing topic. If it deserves a brand new topic, start a brand new topic. But check first. Last week's 10 threads on 'which headphones to buy' will still be relevant this week, if people post in those threads this week, rather than starting 10 new ones.

Plus, searching doesn't work well.

It works OK. As in, someone will locate the relevant threads quite easily. If it's less frequently asked, it'll likely be harder to find. Someone'll usually be helpful and dig it out. Google is better though (as photojojo pointed out).

wouldn't a DJTT wiki adress to some of those concerns?! things like what should i buy, how do i set up and other beginner questions could be answered in there and be a knowledge center for the whole community, where important information wont get lost on page XXX of general discussion.

i think a wiki would be a great idea - much better platform than a forum and stickies for that kind of stuff

Why not use google search site embedded rather than the actual search (which is shite) ... I don't think you can search anyhow if you are unregistered which I'm sure is a frustration as well and creates yet more unessesary questions.

e.g. New person tries to search, search doesn't work > Sign up and post question thats been answered 100's of times because search didn't work first time and has now signed up and earned the privilege of posting own very special question.

i know i myself am new to the forum and thus don't really have much pull in these things but i would just like to say that i joined because i was watching a youtube vid in which ean golden said that this place was a community. and in any community there will be some assholes but they will get beat down for not having respect (that's where the mods come in i think, aside to dealing with spam), the problem here on the forum i believe is the older cats who have been here longer thinking they are above it all. if you truly believe in the well being of this community, you would continue to contribute with solid advice or redirect people to where they can get it because you do care. you care about this forum, you care about it not being over run by douches, you care about the fact that we were all new and beginners at one point. so spread the love my brethren, yes as stated before the age of entitlement is upon us but we can still make this place what it used to be if we also put the effort in to bring it back, not just fade into the background because you deem this place not worthwhile. start new interesting threads. pm others on various topics and such, not just to purchase/trade gear. the new isnt the only problem, the old refuses to help. i hope what i've written matters, and that everyone who reads this has a great day

There is no embedded google search. I don't like the google embedded search anyway because i use the advanced search function a lot to find specific posts by user or to search titles only. As far as I know you can't do that with the Google search.

The normal search is being worked on right now.

yeah I haven't seen the regular search since the upgrade


@photojojo most forums just have both options when you click the search tab.
