I've actually been to court for noise violations (US, Indiana) and there's actually a clause that says you have to be warned before you can be charged. If they try and confiscate your gear, stay calm, and explain the situation, tell them you will heed their warning, and keep the music at a lower level.
On the other hand, the cop could be a d-bag and confiscate it anyways, then I'd check your laws and take it to court. Half the time you'll win because cops have better things to do than go to court to fight some DJ over some speakers.
