I sitll have my jaw harp that I bought in 7th grade. Thing is beat to shit and makes me thing I'm going to get tetanus every time I play it.

BTW, I'm about to buy another 2TB external drive and a data doubler for my MBP…just trying to decide whether I want the second drive to be a 320GB HDD that I have sitting around that I'd actually keep media (movies, more music, etc.) on or a 60 or 120GB SSD just for current production/recording projects and DJ music. I already have a 60GB SSD in a FW chassis that I use for that, but it'd be nice to not have to plug it in all the time………or I could use the existing SSD like that, I just kinda want a better one and it's old enough that I'm not sure I should be trusting it……

    Decisions…decisions.

The only reason to add SSD to a LT or DT is speed....
So only run your OS & prog's from the SSD and use a bulk storage for other stuff.
Adding a SSD makes an old LT 2 years younger/faster if your computer can handle the bandwidth.

You can't go wrong with the intel 320 series (espc. for mac)
If they don’t want to see the light…..just make them feel the beat…..

And durability. I tend to treat my laptops pretty bad, and while I have good backups, I'd rather not have the downtime of having to replace a hard drive.

I already boot off an SSD, and I have for years. Heck, I only carry solid state storage with me (SSDs and USB sticks) at this point. The thought of carrying around a hard drive again terrifies me.

Enh. I don't know why people want to have as much storage on their laptop as they do at home. That just makes me never want to do anything at my desk. My 120 was like $400 when it was a relatively new design and it freaking screams. Now it costs $220 and came with a 5 year warranty.

It might have been expensive when I got it, but I don't consider $220 for that drive the least bit extravagant.
