If you need a new (real) laptop get a PC. You can get an asus thats cheaper AND blows it out of the water. But between a *cough* and a Lemur, I vote Lemur.

Silly DJ loops are for kids!
lets not hijack this thread with a PC vs Mac war :\
+1 with the hijack, im done with PC. I used it for years and it took care of me.
yes, Lemur, JesC. How can you possible have a debate here?
The MBPro has a bit more display-space, which is nice- but I'd go with the lemur as well. Glossy plus no Firewire has really killed it for me; lucky I have bought my 17" MBPro when I did. Loving every 1920x1080 pixel of it...
I mix stuff on my things...
do not get a $2000 lemur dude, its the most overpriced item in the world, multi touch native support will be available within the year on windows 7 (most likely), buy a used black or white macbook, find one that still has applecare on craigslist or ebay for like $750-$800, so you have a backup for your whole system, same generation, same compatability (FW400). then you can buy a whole nother laptop with some really nice specs to run windows, and just wait for windows 7 later this year.
you can sync them both by midi clock over LAN, within 3 months of windows 7 release you'll be able to create your own custom touchscreen console to control your MAC and windows systems in sync.
$2000 = a LIMITED USE TOUCHSCREEN (Lemur)
$2000 = 2 whole computers with infinite uses, one with a touchscreen if you wait a little while.
or save a little more and go for this,

its $3500 before June 10th, $4000 after.
in the same vain, snow leopard will bring a multi touch API to OSX. given windows 7 and OSX support, even if you will not immediatly see laptops with multi touch, i am sure the external USB displays will pick it up quickly. that being said, if you want to spend the cash now, i would also go with a lemur. its just fun to be on the edge of technology some times![]()
