I've said it before, but here it goes again; Every day!; that's how often I find a new way to use the mixer. I'm doing techniques that simply can't be done with a traditional physical crossfader. Everyone is kinda distracted by the touch scratch surface of the SCS3s, myself included. However, I can honestly say that right now the most exciting functions are the multi-touch faders. Hey, don't get me wrong, I love "luuuuhv" Ecler mixers, but I wouldn't trade my 3M for 2 of 'em. So go ahead and fight it and think of reasons why I'm wrong. Those reasons will probably sound just like all of my arguments to the folks at Stanton the whole time I've been testing these. That's why I feel so strongly now. I have repeatedly been forced to admit that I was wrong about the SCS3s. I'm a skeptical person by nature. I could make a list (as long as this blabby post of mine) of the things I thought the SCS3s couldn't do. I've been wrong every time. The new crab scratch is the latest proof of that. So do what you want with your dough, but don't say I didn't tell you so.
You are mixing internally though, I don't think you will achieve the same sound quality.

*edit* i wasn't taking a dig at mixing internally (i do it), I just thought that the reason for the thread was finding an external mixer with good sound quality etc.

    ^^^^^^^

agreed. although the fidelity of internal mixing is improving, it just cannot reproduce the sound of a quality external mixer; be it analog or digital.

i'm not one to shy away from something because of new technology, in fact I'd love to get my hands on the new stanton touchpads, but I want the sound quality of an external mixer.

I'm stuck between a used xone92 and an ecler nuo5.

Huge +1 on the Xone 3D It's great.

There's even a way to get 4 channels out of it, if you run a cord from your computer's soundcard to the fourth channel on the mixer.
I'm not good at things, but I like to pretend I am.

@djmgj: sorry, I sold it last month... But I would recommend it only if you do not care very much about sound quality.

I have tested 4 different mixers on a very good sound system (same tracks were played from CD-player):

Pioneer DJm 400 - sound is not clear and is "cold"
Allen & Heath Xone 22 - sound is not clear but it is "warm", more enjoyable for the human ear
Korg Zero 4 - sound is very clear but "cold"; much better than the first two
Allen & Heath Xone 4D - very clear and warm sound, very pleasant for my ears

I guess the DJM 800 sounds a little better than the Zero 4, but I didn't test them at the same time...

If you plan to use the Zero 4 in large clubs with nice PA systems, you WILL notice the difference, so I advice you not to buy it. If you plan to use it at home or in bars, go for it!
