The DJ Mag Top 100 lost much of it's credibilty in my eye a few years ago at the advent of social media, because it is now simply a case of following a view website/facebook/twitter links to vote. I've not bothered for a few years but I had been buying DJ Mag since the early 90's and when the Top 100 came in it was readers who voted which generally meant they were a bit more clued up on dance music. Sure the big boys still got voted to the top but it was a better reflection of the dance music scene as opposed to the pop music scene.
20+ years man & boy, working the platters that matter. D3EP DJ.

I never got on the ban the user above you thread, I guess this is my chance?

Really these polls are fun in a way that we can all freely express hate, but in my mind doesn't come up with the best of the US, forget festival performing acts, they are a shoe in for popularity. Somehow DJ Dan, Three, and many others get shuffled aside for flavor of the minute. Think Onionz or Bag-o-Donuts on the low scale and Porter Roberson gets a mention last year. Kind of sad, and means the local voting support isn't there, John B who I personally like put a ton of effort to getting a mention, which I hated to have to listen to the effort.

It is still a ton of fun, to bitch about, read and go OMFG really?

I saw Maceo in March and was blown away by Eats Everything who played before him, but then at the after party the Wildkats blew them both away.

Just based on DJ performance it's a no brainer for me who I would vote for
I just meant that I didn't think that was a shitty choice where al of his other choices for me looked like complete rubbish. Even if i was going to vote, which I am not, I would not be voting for Maetrik... regardless I don't vote in these things because I feel it is just a waste of my time when there are thousands of little teenie boppers voting for Calvin Harris, Arty, Hardwell and clowns like that... it's just terrible, but its also clear who is voting. Also lets not forget that big scandal like 7 or 8 years back when they exposed al the frauds for rigging votes and cheating the system in this poll, I am sure it is still going on!

why are these Top 100 lists always about dance music/edm dj's? cos seriously, in my humble bur prolly worthless opinion, no one rocks a crowd like Z Trip, but i guess cos he aint a "dance music dj" he wont ever get the chance to smack the taste outta pauly d or guettas mouth as they both so massively deserve... btw did anyone watch Guetta at Hackney this wekend, what a massive wank master !

To be fair the DJ mag poll hasn't been just about DJ skills for a long time, if ever- so no one else is really voting based on that anyway.

I'm going to vote for good DJs anyway but that's not the criteria the majority of people who vote on this stuff use. Actually I'll probably forget to vote. The RA top 100 is a much better indication of the type of music I like anyway.

Didn't Z-Trip win one of these types of things just a couple years ago? I remember him being rated as "America's top DJ" by some publication.

Is anyone really taking the DJ Mag Top 100 seriously today -- even pro DJs?
