Default i need a cdj, and have no idea what to start with.

ok, im pretty much into vinyl more than any 18 yr old should be, and i started with traktor to combat the price and difficulty of finding the vinyls i wanted. so i got traktor from someone here on DJTT for a dirt cheap, and started playing with that. but as time went on i started collecting more vinyl than i had planned on, and am now wanting to move onto an all analogue system. but i also want to be able to play songs and bootlegs i mix on my computer. i decided the ideal solution is a CDJ.

i will be scratching on vinyl as i do mostly hip hop and dmc style playing, and want to play my own beats to scratch on. i want a good CDJ that can play cd's, as well as USB sticks. i dont have a price limit, but i dont want top of the line stuff just for the name. i want it as cheep as it goes, and only does what it needs to. plays Cd's and Usb sticks loaed with MP3's.

    what ya recommend DJTT-ers?

well in my opinion i think you should stick to Turntables .. You could always switch between vynil and timecodes. All you have to do it get any normal mixer for instance the djm 909 and get an audiocard for whatever dj program you use.

But .. If you insist on getting CDJ's i'd say get the 900s .. There someone like the 2000 but a cheaper model.
They actually have a 'slip' feature that no other cdj has

i i have a timecode setup, but i would rather go no computer at all, and have the extra player or something to play the non vinyl tracks i have. it would also allow people to gimme a CD during a mix to play, like when i do mix shows at the local record shop, i can play other dj's promos. we do that kinda stuff at these local shows. they dont really follow the regular dj "rules" and such. but thats off topic. the real thing is that im thinking about a CDJ because its a good solution, but idk whats a good one to even start looking at

If you want one that plays USB sticks I'd stick with the Pioneers; the 900 is probably your best bet but if you can afford the 2000 they are really nice. If you don't care about the USB sticks I'd probably still stick with Pioneers and look for a used CDJ-1000 mk2 or 3. Or the mk1 which you can probably find cheap but don't expect to be able to use digital out if you get that. Other than that though it's fine and built like a tank; I've had mine for ten years and it still works great, and when I bought it it was a guitar center floor model so it had already taken a fair amount of abuse.

Since you're a scratch DJ, why not try a hand on some Denon CDJs? They have a very good vinyl emulation, have USB media capability and are usually cheaper than Pioneer CDJs? Haven't personally used them but the reviews are pretty good on them.
