This is pretty tragic man, I know how you feel as I've had shit stolen several times from the DJ booth, including (a) a tonium pacemaker (b) wires/cables and (c) expensive booze (which is not SO bad). Now I make sure to pack my stuff and lock it away as soon as I finish my set. Can't be too careful...

Good luck with the insurance, personally I think you've got a tough fight to get a payout. Insurance companies usually like things to locked away either in a car boot or a private residence, physically removed from you (mugged), or as with DJ insurance in the clubs store cupboard. A barn sounds dodgy and insecure. Good luck.
My advice in future is wherever u go... your equipment goes with u, never leave it, the vci is something to be envious of and it's expensive. Say no more.
Whatever you do don't say you where working...it was all just fun. unless you have got professional DJ insurance cover.

Small upside, it's the EGE and there aren't a ton of those around. If you really look I bet it'll pop up somewhere.
