Default Adding CDJ 850's to DVS system???

I have two cdj 850's coming in tomorrow and im not sure on how to get them working in TSP2 with my existing DVS system. Right now I'm running two technics 1200's with timecode vinyl on decks A and B through my Traktor audio 6 card with an external mixer ( DJM400 ). I want to run the 850's in HID mode on decks C and D. I know its not going to be as simple as pluging the USB to the laptop and Rca's into the mixer... or will it??? I know the CDJ's have their own souncards and i'm not sure if that will cause problems or conflicts with the traktor audio 6 card. Iv'e checked the forums and found similar topics about running the CDJ850's in HID but nothing about running them along with timecode control vinyls on the other channels. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

    It should be.

I'm too lazy to do the research for you, and still too lazy to explain in details but here's how it works :

When you use CDJs for MIDI/HID control of a DJing software with an external mixer, you need each channel in the software going to the corresponding CDJ, to then go to the corresponding channel on the mixer in order to be mixed.

The thing is, you are allowed only 1 audio interface, and with 2 CDJs you have 2 built-in soundcards. Therefore, you have to create an "aggregated device" which is more or less a virtual fusion of the 2 soundcards. On Mac OS it's easy as pie, on Windows it seems to be an unholy shit to set up, but you can do it aswell.
Then you select the aggregation of this as the device Traktor has to send output to.
Then, you have to route everything up so that deck A goes to the CDJ on the left, deck B goes to the CDJ on the right and so on...

It maybe lacks details but that's how you use 2 CDJs in HID using the internal soundcards.

THE GOOD THING IS : Since the audio will go to the Audio 6 you have, you don't need the wall of text I just wrote, just plug and play. I hope it will still be some help for someone, or at least be informative just in case.

Dope THANKS!!! This was super helpful. I really want to avoid messing with ASIO4ALL because I heard it is a messy process.

CDJs have soundcards? Is that just on the newer "rekordbox" CDJs? I'm pretty sure my CDJ-1000 doesn't.

And my follow up question; WHY do CDJs have soundcards?

Sorry if that's a stupid question; I've never really been a CD guy and I only rarely use the 1000. And I never noticed they started putting them in until just now, heh.

AFAIK, its only the 400, 850, 900 and 2k that have soundcards (all the HID CDJs)
And they have individual soundcards so you dont have to carry around an interface as well to gigs,

As for agregating the soundcards, pioneer released an app for both pc and mac which does it for you. you just have to find it.

p.s, how are you planning on running four channels on a 2 channel mixer o.O you should be running either the timecode w/1210's and the CDJs at different times no? therefore no conflicts as they wont really be used at the same time.

The CDJ-850s do support HID, but Traktor only works with them over MIDI (CDJ-350s are in the same boat). If you want HID with CDJs on Traktor, you need to use CDJ-400s, CDJ-900s, or CDJ-2000s. They are adding Advanced HID support for the 900s and 2000s in 2.5.1, but the release notes only mention those and the CDJ-400. Maybe there will be a nice surprise when it is released. You /can/ use the 850s (and 350s) in HID mode with Serato, but you can't use the sound cards...

350 have built-in soundcards aswell. But they do not support HID protocol, only MIDI.

And to OP : I forgot 1 step that you have to do.

Start the CDJ (i don't think it needs to be hooked to the computer).
Hold "Utility" button, scroll to "MIDI CH." then click.
Now, scroll to choose a MIDI channel (goes from 1 to 16). If you want to use CDJs to control decks C and D, i'd say put channel 3 and 4.

If you need more details, here's the manual :
    http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/44...850/media.html

What you're looking for is on the bottom right corner of page 23, "changing the settings"

And the pro tip : If you ever plan to take the CDJ out of your room for any reason (gig, changing room or house..) you should put a number on each CDJ (under the player, with a marker or a sticker). So the left one stays the left one and vice versa. Remember than in the steps I explained above, you assigned each CDJ a MIDI channel.

If you don't mark them you might switch them and then your "real" left deck will control traktor's right deck, and it becomes a mess, you'd need to unplug everything and that's not what you want when you're in a hurry at a gig/club.

Oh, and I forgot : If one day you use the "aggregated device" i talked about in my previous post, I would hook the CDJ to the same USB port everytime. I'm not sure it's absolutely needed, but it costs nothing and can avoid boring re-setting.

PS : Could you give me your opinion on the 850 as soon as you get them ? Thanks

Right now I'm in the market for a DJM800 or DJM850K, but until then I'm going to be using deck A,B with both cd and vinyl timecodes changing between Line/Phono via the switch. Or have C and D controlled by the CDJ through MIDI. Running 2 decks at a time of course.
