    That's exactly what it is

As for the poster who said it's not a cultural difference, you're so unbelievably wrong I can't even tell you. This is nothing to do with the commercial rave scene you describe with the fairgrounds and stuff. Try watching the Glastonbury documentary I mentioned for an education, you'll see exactly how wrong you are, all of this came out of the free party scene, not the commercial raves.

I can safely say that on average this is the most ignorant and ill-informed dj board on the internet, well done DJ Techtools.

Just chill out! I love keeping up with these forums but threads like these put me off so badly. Everyone whining over which music they like/dont like/something about cheese?/festivals not being basement enough (again dafuq?)

Be a little open minded; I don't like classical music but I don't go on classic musical forums and rip on them. If you like dark grungier stuff then start a thread about it!

This guy just posted a fun looking event and gets shredded. Who in their right mind whilst absolutely legless on the piss with your mates wouldn't see a giant mechanical spider shooting lasers and fire and go "HOLY CRAP THATS NUTS?!"
And if you responded 'not me' you either don't drink, don't have mates or you're a boring sociopath.
Cheers mate, I was beginning to think it was me who was the crazy one.

It is Arcardia!!! Superb!!! Blimey, seriously, I don't know where to start having read the full thread now and watched the video.

Firstly, definitely not cheese at all, a bit of a right royal knees up sure, but not cheese IMO. Rave Breaks I would describe the music as, has roots in the hardcore scene but very much a niche, underground sound. The hardcore raves do have some bad press from the early/mid 90's onwards in the UK, they may have been lacking a little in the subtleys of dance music but they didn't permeate in to the mainstream or were some huge commerical enterprise on a scale like the current 'EDM' fad (SHM, Skrillex, Guetta et al).

Secondly, Arcardia is awesome, the whole corner of Glastonbury; Arcardia, Shangri-La, Block9 - most definitely not cheesy or commercial. As already mentioned you have to watch Glastonbury After Hours, very interesting viewing and most certainly shuns the commerciality of dance music or 'EDM' we see such a lot of peddled to us.

There may be a difference in terms of viewpoint between US/UK/Europe but I think this is down to the rise in 'EDM' in the US which appears to be the heavily commercial, pop dance music.

I personally believe in the UK, there is a good, strong balance between both festivals and club scene, both of which are well established. The majority of which are superb, underground events alongside the more commercial, mainstream events such as SW4.

Big or small, I don't mind, IMHO it's very easy to determine from the lineup if it will be a 'cheesefest' and to my taste or not, and back on topic, I would happily enjoy Boomtownfair - definitely doesn't seem cheesy to me.

i doubt anyone was arguing about the way said festival had started. i guess almost every big festival started small one day. but a lot of the peeps on here donīt like the big raves and robots and stuff. jack why are you trying to convience everyone to like it and hate on all of the guys on here that donīt like stuff like this and gave their opinion? this is getting a bit nerv wrecking. shure it might be a cool festival and the roots might be interesting, but in this video all i see is a enormous robot/fire/lazer/whatevershow and guys wearing shades. all of this looks pretty commercial and douchy in first sight. i havenīt been there so i canīt tell. but what i know is that i wonīt like it and i know a lot of other guys on here, too. is it that painful that somebody has a different idea of a perfect party than you?

Talk about missing the point. Look mate, quite a few other people on here understand what I'm saying, try reading their posts and then commenting.

Your original point was "wow look at the stage"..
Some people don't like it - why does that upset you so much?

    Confused....

Well, let's try to mend the waves a bit. In my first reply I quickly added in that my impressions were based on the cheesy music and cheesy editing of the video, and I stand by that. And here's an example for un-cheesy editing of an official festival video.

I did not want to say giant robots are unimpressive or anything, so here's another two videos of seriously cool stuff like that from this year's Fusion Festival in Germany (and actually it seems to be the same guys responsible as in the OP's video).

(Didn't see the robot band myself only had people telling me about it, but the tesla dudes I've seen and they definitely had my jaws drop for a couple minutes)

Edit: and to top things off, I'll just add another video - no robots this time, but good music and nice festival atmosphere

Literally no one said 'I don't like the stage'.

People tried to make idiotic and incorrect guesses (as has been proven by some other more informed posters) about what sort of an event it was, people started saying they preferred small clubs (as do I, but that's not really the point, it's only tangentially related), some people were commenting on the audio and the editing of the video as if that makes a bit of difference

Not one person initially stated any sort of opinion on the actual post, they were all too busy trying to seem alpha and cool (and failing miserably). I especially liked the bloke (Timbo21) who clearly has no direct knowledge of the UK dance scene trying to correct Mr. Goats who was trying to give them a bit of first-hand history lesson with the benefit of his clear experience in the scene.

All the while the mods are on at me whilst for being insulting when I never actually dissed anyone directly and whilst other posters like BFLY (who was actually, factually incorrect) were actually making personal attacks against me (I don't care, I'm a big boy who doesn't get upset if people post words on a forum against me, but I bet you that no messages were sent to them until I replied to the mod who PM'd me pointing it out).

Here's the thing guys, opinions are not equal if one person knows what they are talking about and the other is just making guesses. Your ignorance is not equivalent to somebody elses knowledge.

Making this thread has been one hugely depressing eye-opener.

Diddums. You posted a video saying "have a look at this". People had a look, some decided it wasn't up there street because of the cheesy music and the overall 'look' of the video. You threw your toys out of the pram, got aggressive with the the tone and language used in your posts.

Id be quite interested to hear some of your mix's or see any events that you've done, any links?

Im guessing your 16 and probably play teen parties.

A good start would be by saying 'wow, I certainly made a lot of unfounded assumptions when I initially posted and I was wrong. Here's a link I found to the same crew doing their 'lords of lightening' show. Isn't it cool?'
