Exactly! Key words "so far". Why not waiting until the actual product launch to post about the quality? All I have seen so far from the negative people are lots of assumptions.

I'll reserve passing judgement until I get my hands on it. If the quality is there, I'm selling my SixtyTwo.

You reserve judgement all you want, I'm gonna pay attention to history.

NI doesn't need to make quality gear. People are stupid enough to buy their crap regardless of the quality. They can build this thing like a mixtrack, and charge pioneer prices for it, and everyone will still buy it.

    Because:
A: NI fanboys are even dumber than mac fanboys/windows fanboys.
B: They're going to add new HID-only features in this new traktor version that they'll prevent you from using with any other controller. Remember how well this business plan worked for the S4, the S2 AND the F1? Why would they stop?

My X1 is solid, the S2s and 4s I've played with seemed solid........cdj 350s and 400s that I've used felt like toys. How could NI make their gear more quality? I've been happy with it...

    Amazing concept with mediocre execution.

But that's just my first impression. If the price is right this could still be a quality product.

I'd disagree a little. The body of most NI devices is nice and sturdy but i'll agree it's knobs and faders where they are lacking. I'd be willing to pay more for this device if I knew they had made some increases to the design quality of the knobs and faders.

You think the build quality of the s2/s4 is higher than that of the CDJ 350 and 400......? Granted the 350 and 400 are cheap, but the "touch" on the jogwheels on the S2/S4 is a giant button that goes "clunk" when you push it down... Do I need to go on?

Unfortunately you don't play with the body.. you do use the knobs, sliders and buttons though.

Really? That's surprising from Rane. Their stuff is usually tank quality.

Really... the jogwheeels. The jogwheels on the S2/S4 are actually too bad to even attempt to backspin (throw it as hard as you can, it'll spin for 3/4s of a second and then stop abruptly), and the platter is a big piece of plastic that rattles around.

The jogwheels on the mixtrack are LITERALLY higher quality (aside from the encoders being 7 bit midi).
