Xone: Roughly how much does it cost to make each one? I'm an electronics engineer and i'm currently looking for a new project and this could fit in well with my production and projects i enjoy doing!

join muffwiggler and head over here it's a pretty amazing group of people: http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/vie...5083227a0a8b66

It varies a lot by module. There is one guy there who designs and does small runs of the panels I posted which range from $25-$60 each) ie the serge res EQ is $60 but comes with a daughterboard PCB. Then there are other people in the community who design and do small runs of PCBs, with a lot of the ones shown by one guy named Ken Stone aka CGS who has a ton of projects and PCBs for all formats. It varies again by module and who is doing the run and many of the modules I posted use multiple PCBs. PCBs range from $15 each to maybe $50- then sourcing all the components and knobs which is usually easy except for stuff with rare parts. Anything that uses vactrols gets pricey- the quad low pass gate uses 8 vactrols which comes to like $50 just in vactrols.

I would say average price per module is like $80-$160 to build. It's a pretty good deal considering pre made modules easily sell for 4x that much and there are a lot of really innovative designs you can't get built. I don't know if you are familiar with Serge Modular but one Serge panel/module is about $2000 and you can pretty much build an exact clone yourself including panel for like $300. Same with Buchla modules which are crazy expensive (and clones all have Don Buchla's blessing).

There are tons of cool projects in synth- DIY land.

I wish I was strong enough in math to go back and get a degree in electrical engineering but don't know if the torture is worth it,it's very fun and interesting.

Thanks for all that info. Will definitely check it out! Electrical or Electronic? Over here it would be Electronic engineering you would want for this sort of thing I'm away to sit and look through some of it because i can get almost all electronic parts for basically £0 from my work so it would make things a fair bit cheaper

    On topic though:
