Sorry, this is a bit of an OT rant .

Checking your mails and noticing that 2.6 has been released, downloading and updating. Plugging in your S2 and getting 'USB device not recognized', I'm panicking. Connecting the S2 to my laptop and my roommates PC, same result. Reinstalling Traktor and the S2 drivers didn't help, I finally notice that the USB cable sits pretty loose in the connector, damn it's broken . Contacted the NI support, I hope that I get a reaction/replacement asap.

This was such a sad day . I can't pursue such a sweet hobby for a few weeks, can't try out the new features (the flux thingie sounds so sweet) + I can't prepare for my first live gig in a few weeks.

Anyone who has experiences with the European/German tech support of NI? Can I expect a fast solution of my problem?

There's some temp fixes around here somewhere for that. But once you send it off for repairs, you'll be on your own.

Thanks for the advice . I found this http://forum.djtechtools.com/showthr...l=1#post479313 which points to a blog which is dead + the cardboard trick. Since I'm still warranty I think I'm better with a permanent solution (repaired/replaced unit) than with some MacGuyver trick, but the cardboard trick may help me until I send my unit to NI.

The USB adapter mentioned in that thread might be helpful to prevent damage, so I will get one. Since the USB connector seems to a a common weakness with NI gear I don't want to plug the cable in and out every time I use it (basically 1-7 times a week).

Ok, so after gigging last night i can finally update and have a play around. The the main points im picking up from the thread that effect me are:

    1. No flux mode for timecode control....which is a little bit shit, but i can kinda understand why...also assume this could be fixed by 2.6.1
    2. flux mode hot cues seems to be very cool indeed...if not a little pointless depending on the way u use hot cues
    3. i need to import some tsi so i can get the macro fx to work?

Seems like a half-baked slip mode so far.

EDIT: Only used mouse and launchpad plus coded vinyl so far. Not tried S4 yet.

Yeah, I was hoping that it would work with TC, but then thought about it and realized it would not work.
CDJ's have a touch sensitive deck, meaning that it sends an on off message etc.
TC vinyl will not do that.

I will now use 4 cue points in normal mode set at certain parts of the track, so I can re-arrange it etc.
Then use the other 4 cue points in flux mode, set at certain sample points in the track for a bit of a juggle type effect. Had fun jamming like that earlier. All I needed to do was map the Flux Mode on to my decks and add the Out for LED response. Set the In's to toggle and there you go!

I dont use loops so dont need anything there!

I also was able to do the TC Flux Cue thing, but its not Slipmode Effect. One could still use it like I explained above if you use TC vinyls...to cue juggle momentary hits

What you COULD do, is use a pedal that is mapped to a drop cue point that is free. Then as you get to the spot you want to slip scratch at, you press the pedal (while in fluxmode) and it will create the cue point and you can scratch it and release your foot from the pedal when you want out.

That should work theoretically, cuz then you have your on \ off switch like on the CDJ. Your timing will need to be good tho. Jam the pedal, then touch and rub the TC vinyl and use the X-Fader to cut, then release when you want out on time.

Not sure how to map that tho, will look into in a bit. I could certainly use that.

How would one set it up mapping wise, to set a cue point on a free slot and be deck focused. It will not be a viable setup if the process involves pressing too manny buttons. You need it to be ready on the fly.

    mmmmmmm...something to ponder on.

Interestingly, the loop controls on the CDJ function as normal in flux mode, that is to say that if you set a loop on the CDJ and then exit that loop, it doesn't jump back to where it would have been. The looping in the video was done with Mix Architekt's DB4 mapping using the DB4 loop encoder. As others have said, rather than toggling a loop it has a hold function instead, so it loop rolls as long as you hold down the push encoder.

    HAA!!!

That solves my problem then. Instead of using the pedal to made a cue point, I can make it a loop command and use the hold function.

That will then allow me to loop anywhere on the fly, when my pedal is down and scratch that loop with the TC and then let go of the pedal to be at the actual point of the track.

Only thing now would to set something to deck focus, so I can choose which deck it will loop on.

    YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    DOH!

Just saw your post on the same thing I am on about.

I think setting a instand loop to hold and assign to a foot switch will work.

Checking that in a minute. Fluxmode will obviously need to be ON and then you engage the foot switch and scratch the loop that you are holding and letting go of the foot switch will then return you to the tracks play head.

    WHOOP!

The "mapping a cue point to jump and scratch" works with flux. Tho you have to be quick to grab the vinyl

Did it using dicers. But yeah, easier with a foot pedal.

I would just add them in preferences rather than importing a .tsi and potentially screwing up other settings.

    Method 2
After installing the TRAKTOR 2.6 update, you can manually add the new Macro FX to the Pre-Selected Effects list.
Open the TRAKTOR Preferences > Effects menu.
Select all desired Macro FX and click the Add button to move them to the Pre-Selected Effects list.
