did you check bandcamp? there's a mixture of paid and free downloads. you have to do some digging, just like you would on soundcloud.

You really should consider paying the artists for all their hard work. If you don't then eventually all you'll see/hear is crap. Those guys need to make a living too. If you come clean my house every week for free then I can give you a track or two per cleaning (track quality=to cleaning of course).

I pay for a lot of music, I have no problem paying artists for their music, my problem is that i can only buy 50-100 songs every so often. So I would at least like a source where i can get some free (and legal) music to satisfy my needs.

No great advice but I get a lot of decent stuff from soundcloud.
