Why waste time making them, which in turn wastes peoples time watching and wondering what's coming?

Just release it.
If it's great, buzz will generate organically.

Glad I picked up K8 for half price last year along with free Razor, Session Strings, and The Mouth. What's the point of calling it Komplete 9 if there's next to no difference from 8?

I think the thing with komplete is you just have to jump in knowing that yes every year there will be a new one but the updates are more then reasonable. Yes I paid 600 last year for 8 and I'm happy to pay $150 each year for new updates and new software. Once you've bought it the cost to keep it updated goes way down.

I think ultimate 8 to 9 is a bit rich, they should offer a way to download the extras and add them on to the drive.

Battery, Monark and the solid mix series are worth $150 for me, the rest is bonus?

It amazes me that Americans yet again get away with an upgrade price of 149 $, where in Europe one has to pay 149 €.

that's a difference of 35 euros...
