I think most of it has to do with commercial activities. A good commercial engine backing the artists results in fame and fortune. The the management aims for another artist, no one talks about the old ones anymore.

Like said, most of them are great studio producers but on stage just playing the same playlist over and over again.

Default Dutch DJs in the DJMAG are not populair in Holland! Hoes That for Irony

Feel the urge to explain what the real Dutch house scène is all about! The DJs who are playing trance or worse EDM are not the DJs who are playing on the serious festivals in Holland. So called DJs Producers such as Afrojack Chuckie Nicky Romero Hardwell to name a few are not the DJs who are populair in Holland, to say it more clear only 15 years listen to this music. We called it here pancake house or weener house and this was populair in Holland like 8 years ago. This explains the popularity in the States as they are always way behind in terms of electronic music, again irony as in Detroit Chicago and NY are def. Are DJs who would come in the list of DJ top 100 of all times. Anyway EDM in
Holland is a def. No go and a laughable phenonemon. Trance is just a subgenre of house which was populair like 10 years ago in Holland with parties as Trance Energy. Tiësto and Armin are kings in what they do but again not interested for the clubbers nowadays.
Whats hot then? Im not a fan of thinkin in genres because great DJs are beyond genres. But to make it easy:
    - hardstyle populair in the countryside of Holland. Its more for the plain shallow people or people who just have to learn and understand real house music, its a process.
    - techno, biggest crowd in Holland (cities) but losing his share to deephouse.
    - deep house , is booming nowadays and is getting bigger, beat EDM easily in the Randstad region
And from these genres you see only hardstyle DJs in the DJMAG list and thats a shame!!

In techno you got a Secret Cinema Egbert Joris Voorn I.e.
Deep house you got Detroit Swindle , Prunk
    , Tom
Trago etc. These are one of the names people in Holland buy tickets for not Chuckie afrojack
Hardwell etc. Check the serious and most hip festivals like awakenings welcome to the future open air to name a few

Hopefully you have a better picture now of electronic music in Holland. Mark my words 5 years from now people in the US Will agreement. Music is a al warming process
