You will be missing an out pair with the A8 if you intend to retain 4 dedicated out pairs for Traktor.
You wouldn't need to aggregate if you're running the programs separate (with a midi clock). If you aggregate, you can't use timecode (not sure if it matters to you).
That's true, nothing from Traktor will be using the A2 as all decks will be set to the A8. That just leaves Mashine running off the A2 by itself.
Timecode isn't a problem as I don't use it.
Hi Guys
Quick question i hope someone can help. i plan on syncing my mikro to traktor tonight and see what its like. i dont think ill have much probelm setting it all up...
i just want to know if the only way to use the maschin once synced up is the step sequencer? would i not be able to play synth parts over my traktor tracks? will it just work with the step sequencer?
Technics 1210 mk2 Pair, Pioneer DJM600, Traktor Kontrol x1, NI Audio 6, NI Maschine Mikro MK2, MacBook 2009, iPad 2 with Traktor DJ, Pioneer HDJ-500, Shure M447's
Yeah, you can just play.
Quantize (if set correctly) will still function, though it may not function exactly as expected.
Essentially what the MIDI clock sync does is replace Maschine's tempo controls with what it gets from Traktor and replaces it's play/pause button with the one in Traktor's midi clock section.
I've heard the midi sync is clunky? Does anyone use it? I think to make it sound fluid....like Bass Kleph....you need to have some rhythm and just play with quantize off?
A&H Xone DB4 l (2) Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 l Maschine MK2 l Traktor Scratch Pro l Ableton
Avalon (Hollywood) l Exchange LA (Los Angeles) l DS#ARP LA (Los Angeles) l Undercurrent (San Diego) l Frenzy Afterhours (Los Angeles) l AL Party (Los Angeles) l Spin (San Diego) l Sutra (Orange County) l Monarch (San Francisco)
supposedly the MIDI sync IS clunky. Like you mentioned Bass Kleph plays w/o quantize. Also, he mentions in the DJTT video that he prefers the MIDI sync capabilities better in Ableton and that's what he uses.
Edit: Hopefully this video helps

It is clunky. The transport for Maschine winds up in that little midi window thing at the top of Traktor. It's kind of a PITA.
I honestly believe it would be easier to just beat match maschine to your decks...or it would be if Maschine had half-decent tempo controls on it. There's a way to hack it together with Live and another controller, but it's a huge PITA.
If you just want to play (and not use it's sequencer at all), then you don't need midi sync.
