Starting from the point that you SHOULD NOT use rekordbox, CDJ-900 is superior.
Without rekordbox XDJ-R1 is a controller without sync.... its ridiculous.

You can also use de CDJ-900 with a DJM-900Nexus mixer, with infinite possibilities. With a XDJ-R1 you are stuck with that "mixer" in the middle forever.

What makes you think the R1 significantly different than a pair of CDJs?

Ended up getting a pair of CDJ 900s for a mad deal. 2x CDJ 900s, roadcase, deck savers & a DJM 350 for $2000. Reselling the DJM 350 so get about 300 back from that

Firstly because the creator of this thread will train with equipment that is the 2nd most common on clubs in the whole world. I don't know any venue in the globe that uses XDJ-R1.
Then, as I said, XDJ-R1 has its own mixer, which is not the same as a DJM-900Nexus or a DJM-2000/2000Nexus. You get stuck with it.
Also, I don't believe it is the same thing to play without rekordbox on both of them. Pitch faders on CDJ-900 are the double the size, it has a much more precise Jog, Jog adjust, and Loops.
Its like comparing a CDJ-900 with CDJ-350 (edited, I mean CDJ-200, even CDJ-350 is better than a XDJ-R1 without rekordbox...).

Pitch faders are a fair point. I'm still not sure what you're getting at about Rekordbox.

XDJ-R1 without rekordbox is useless. CDJ-900 is the second best equipment on earth to play without rekordbox or any software.

Rekordbox simply sucks. Some of the usual bugs are listed below:

    - The software crashes when opening.
    - The software crashes when using it.
    - The software crashes when exporting to USB Sticks.
    - The CDJs don't "read" all the info on the USB Sticks (Hot Cues are lost, Memory Points are lost, etc.)
    - The CDJs crash when using USB Sticks with rekordbox (yes, they simply don't work.)
    - The music drifts when using loops (poor accuracy or other bugs)

These are just some of the bugs.
I'm a member of the pioneer forum and I believe I've read a bug report about every single thing of the whole rekordbox process.
The software made people so angry I met a guy who is doing reverse engineering on the software to make an alternative software that, according to him, will work better than the oficial rekordbox from pioneer.

For DJs like me that don't like playing with softwares, using Rekordbox flawlessly is a dream. Sadly, it will not come true in a close future.

The instability of Rekordbox made, for the first time, a new CDJ be worse that its ancestor. CDJ-2000 is still the industry standard, and the CDJ-2000Nexus is becoming one of the most found at "Used" sections of DJ stores.

According to your signature, you have a CDJ-2000. If I were you I would:
First, not sell it. Second, try rekordbox for some time untill a bug appears, and realise it could have happened when you were on a club.

How is the 900 much better than the R1 without Rekordbox? If you have CDJ 900s it makes no sense at all to use non-Rekordbox media.

Loops drifting mean you haven't set your grids properly. I've had problems with the computer app crashing, but exported drives have always worked flawlessly on my 2000s.

Come on, are you serious? Do you even play without softwares? I really believe it is better to play with cds on a CDJ-200 than a XDJ-R1, just look at it!
You are making the same question for the third time, I'm not going to write a big post again to read "but how is the CDJ-900 better than the XDJ-R1?"

For people who play without damn softwares, it makes all the sense to have the most accurate CDJs. Some people really use them you know? they are not just controllers for traktor...

The only real benefits of the 900's control surface over the R1 are the pitch fader and jog display. They both have dot-matrix screens showing pretty much the same information, other than the very basic mini waveform on the 900.

I'm not asking for a huge post, but please just make a few points about why you think the R1 is worse than a CDJ 200.
