    There's also the fact that in the OP, there was an unwritten question of "should I spend XXX amount of money to buy a different laptop", when his problem could be solved for free.

    That, regardless of what your brand-bias is, should be a no-brainer.

    Where did you get the information that the T4500 supports hyperthreading by the way?

    I'm fairly sure the T4500 doesn't support hyperthreading. Cant be bothered to google it, but from memory it was one that didn't. Happy to be proved wrong though. (for all the actual difference it will make to the OP's question)

    I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro - 2.66 ghz core 2 duo, 4gb ram, 320gb hdd.

    I run traktor 2.6.1, 4 decks and use effects. No issues whatsoever. However I do quit everything and run traktor by itself when using the program.

    My housemate has been wanting to check out Traktor so I got my old Toughbook with a Core 2 Duo upgraded to 2.6.1 and let him mess around with it. Works just fine, however analyzing tracks is noticeably slower than my MBP.
