Default Taking the voice apart? (Acapella)

    Hi guys,

So I went through a tuto on the Ableton live forum and I got this small tuto :

So, turn the Width all the way up on the 1st Utility Plugin, and then engage the 2nd Utility Plugin to boost the output, and make the result mono so its not crazily spread out in the stereo field.
But I don't get it with the second plug in, I have so 2x Mono I don't hear the voice any more (with just one obviously) but I don't get it (how to set up the second one)

OR, do you have a better advice to get only the voice in a song?

    Thanks

Just separate the track into 2 mono tracks and phase invert one?

What do you mean by separate the track into 2 mono? By phasing invert just one, i didn't get it either ...

Like I do song in 1-Audio with a mono at 200% then I put in 2-Audio (with audio from 1-Audio), I have to add one mono their and invert the phasing? I get nothing (I can't reverse it at -200 anyway).

So if you had a easy explanation I'd need it :-)

you have to separate the tracks into their stereo parts, then phase invert one. What kind of a track is it?

    It's a song from BMTH.

I'll try what you said tomorrow even if I do not really get it *shame*.

    Crucify me.

P.S. In fact I wanted to try several by them to get an idea as I have some instrumental stuff, I had Crucify Me, Don't Go, Empire, The House of Wolves and finally Seen It All Before.

if you have the instrumental version of the track, put the full into one track and the instr into another, line them up perfectly (zoom really really close so you can see the square waveform parts and line em up perfectly). then use utility on your inst track - the one you want ot subtract - and put your util phase L and R on (the two buttons at the bottom of util pane)

that gets you some of the way, hihats and other sounds might leak thru.

you can get creative with eqing and multiband dynamics - search on youtube for dj vespers tutorial on acapellas & mid-side eq.
