I'd call song selection a rather small part of my question. What's wrong with disagreement? Nothing great would come from anything without a little friendly debate.

nothing wrong with disagreement. only thing i don´t get is, what else (if not style/tracks/genre for opening for a headliner) do you want to know?
I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.

Synthetic and baseline had great advise. Stuff like etiquette/dealing with management/common mistakes.

Don't be better than the headliner, but if you are already, play crap and curse under your breath afterward.

Mate - it sounds to me like you are not treating this like a warm-up set, but more like you are part of a multi-headliner line up.

If you are just going to play what you want to get the response that you want, then that is not a warm-up set.

    Like I said - it's the early part of a multi-headliner night.

So - which is it? It probably depends on how high an opinion you have of yourself...

Don't be offended by that last statement - it has always been a DJ's prerogative to think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Even if he is on the 7pm 'til 9pm slot.

The Truth is - it is at least as hard to be great warm up DJ as it is to be a great main act.

And I'll tell you this - if people in Bristol had paid to see a Dubstep act, and they walked through the door and heard Electro House being played by some DJ they'd never heard of before, then said DJ would be dodging flying pints of piss REAL quick!
