Maybe your DJ name can sound like a wife who is agitated by her husband. "Christ Ian!"

Thank you. I thought it was just me. Are all these crazy new questions for real?

    I hear you.

Christian seems like a very enthusiastic guy, and his heart is in the right place. But, he's also the guy who started a thread recently worried about what he might do after he retired from DJing, as he didn't want to be that old man in the club still playing tunes. Now he's started a thread about choosing his DJ name.

Here's the thing: Christian hasn't yet mixed a tune, because he still hasn't purchased a single piece of equipment. There is certainly NOTHING wrong with all his questions, research, and consideration; I love that all music lovers are welcome in this forum, and he's really showing immense interest.

But, for some reason, none of the veterans here have given their usual good advice: start small, focus only on the basics, and practice/practice/practice. Don't worry about what to do after retirement, or what your name might be some day, or if you want to play hip hop without scratching. Just find a way to start playing music, and see where it takes you. You don't need to have all the answers yet. You don't even know how much you'll enjoy it, or how good you will be at it. Just focus on the things you are passionate about and don't over think all the logistical stuff just yet. Your goal right now is to have fun; make it a job later.

Christian, please don't take my comment as a criticism. You definitely have great energy, love, and respect for the scene, and you should keep asking any question you like. But, in my humble opinion, you shouldn't get too worked up about these little details. There really are no rules set in stone for you, and you can blaze your own path. I think the best part of this journey is the thrill of discovering the art and science of this whole thing as a BEGINNER, and just doing what YOU want to do since you aren't answering to anyone else. Just try not to skip over that part!

me and a few dj buddies came to an agreement that if you started DJ'ing in the 90's the Title DJ is grandfathered in and is allowed and accepted lol

I actually can't think of many "famous" DJs who have "DJ" in their name at all. As soon as I hit "post", however, a bunch will probably come to me.
