False. Listen it's a cool idea and you can defend it all you want, I mean people have been recording that way for awhile, but the fact of the matter is that not all computers have a Line-In option, in fact majority don't. Mic-In only is typically what you see, and you can still record that way, but even if you tweak with the recording options in Audacity, best case scenario you still can't get it to sound good. Even with a Line-In option, recording in Audacity cant compare to the ease of just Recording in Traktor, not to mention less stress on your computer.

I mean maybe I don't understand the Z2 very well and maybe you can explain it to me........you lose some functionability when you mix externally with the Z2 ? The whole mentioning of running the CDJ's in HID mode means you're more likely to mix internally threw me off....so lost on this one

You loose ALL functionality when you mix externally with the Z2. It becomes nothing more than a standard 2-channel mixer. I just mentioned the HID mode because I figured the reason you thought he would be mixing externally is because you assumed he would be using timecode (which he would still have to mix internally to use btw).

Wow really? Thanks for explaining. I never knew and wouldn't dream that you would lose all functions of the mixer when mixing externally. That's a huge drawback to me.

You can mix internally and use timecode btw... before I had an external mixer that's all I ever did, A6, keyboard and 2 turntables lol
