What the funk is this for? Mass loading... why? Dampening... why?

What the hell is wrong with HD25's in the first place.
I can't think of a single thing i'd change on mine apart from that I'm bored of the red Techflex braiding and I fancy changing it to blue.

I genuinely don't get it, but then I am jacked up on antibiotics and other meds at the moment.
It took me an hour to choose what Thai food to have for tea tonite so maybe I'm missing something obvious other than making your headphones heavier.

It says in the "About" of the vid:

"stage one safely improves the damping and tightens up the bass. Phase two it a bit more risky but further improves the SQ"

Dunno if I would want to do that.....
