What he said. I can play an extremely sad sounding chord progression in a minor key but do a lot of things to make the song feel as if it has a high energy. The same can be said for songs in major keys - doing things with the spacing of notes, length of notes and placement of rhythm sections/hits to make the song sound and feel as if it has a lower energy.

Metallica plays in minor chords all the time and I wouldn't say their music, for the most part, is low energy. :P

Reference AVB on youtube and see his sets so you see what he does. As Said, its not always the case; minor keyed songs do tend to be bit darker than a major keyed songs though. Aside from this, YES I completely agree the EQ'ing a song is more important than the keys of songs...although dont expect two songs to sound good if you are mixing them with keys that may not harmonize well. That doesn't matter if it sounds like horses having sex lol

Your argument holds zero weight, please abandon it and stop passing out bad information to future DJs.

lol zero weight? You're missing the whole point, I said its not always the case that a minor song will always be sad/have less energy. A major keyed song does sound happier than a minor keyed song, will it ALWAYS have more energy no, I never said that, it varies from song to song; this holds even more true if you progress up the circle of 5ths. So its not bad information, if anything I'm helping future DJs understand music theory, something you probably lack.

like when i used to buy my records on melrose...the dude behind the counter at Wax would tell me "don't play this until you are high up in the circle of fifths"

dudes like you need to go back to listening to your tracks as they are...and not letting a computer tell you what they are and where they go...
