i for one would rather go with an external soundcard as opposed to a certified mixer

With the CDJ-350, you can connect them using USB plug. So all you need is 2 USB inputs on your laptop.
For the 1000s, I don't believe they have USB compatibility, so you will need a external soundcard. (for example, american versaport).

Although the 1000s are tempting due to hot cues, i would go for the 350s. once you usb, you wont look back. burning cds is super prehistoric. all my cd DJs eventually realize this when they convert.

Ah, I love it when people act like CDs are useless.

They still serve a purpose, just like how you can still make fire with two sticks, but if i got a lighter.. well it only makes sense to use the latter.

Usbs are certainly more convenient than CDs no question, but there is no way I would take a 350 ahead of a 1000mk3.

To me that would be akin to choosing a cramped one-bed apartment ahead of a luxurious manor house, purely on the basis that the apartment has central heating and the manor house has coal fires.

I would gladly deal with CD burning to have the features & feel of the CDJ1000mk3 over the criminally basic CDJ350, but maybe that's just me.

Actually, I much prefer organising my music into CDs, I'm able to view more tracks at the same time and flipping through a wallet is faster than scrolling through songs. I've used both USB and CDs and even though I still keep a spare USB stick in my bag, I find CDs more convenient and more enjoyable.
