General MIDI Fighter Question
Hey all. I just had a quick MIDI Fighter question to all the veterans out there.
I am a DJ and I currently use the Pioneer Nexus CDJ/DJM line, as well as an RMX 1000. In conjunction with all of the hardware, I'm using the new Rekordbox 3.0 software since everything I use is Pioneer based and works almost flawlessly.
On that note, I have taken a VERY big interest into the MIDI Fighter because I myself am actually a semi-professional fighting game player myself in the SoCal area. I noticed however that the MIDI Fighter is not friendly to the Rekordbox software.
I'd really like to be able to use the MIDI Fighter to it's full potential, and although I have had some light experience with Traktor, I was wondering if I could still somehow be able to use the controller with Rekordbox..? I know that the answer to this is more than likely a no, since I don't think that software is friendly to non-Pioneer hardware. So I was curious as to your opinions on the matter and if you guys think I should completely switch over to Traktor as a whole, or if you know of some way I can still incorporate all of the awesome FX power of the MIDI Fighter for my performances alongside my Rekordbox software.
Any feedback you guys give is greatly appreciated, and I hope I can soon join the rest of you guys who are already using! Thanks!

ok, here's your best bet. keep doing what you do with CDJ's & DJM & RMX1000
you could incorporate the MF into your set with either traktor OR ableton easily by using the USB input on the DJM900 or DJM2000. Then have the MIDI Fighter loaded up with samples that you could play overtop of existing tracks. Or you could do something similar like Bass Kleph does with his Maschine by doing live remixes in the middle of his sets. He mixes on CDJ's, but then will switch to Maschine to jam out the same song but give it his own flair.
With the USB input it's super simple. just download the driver for the mixer, plug USB in. then set the output in Traktor or Ableton to the DJM and the proper channel. then on the DJM you change the channel select knob to USB
The only way to use the MF for FX would be to place it in between your RMX1000 & the DJM900. so you would have to use an external soundcard at that point and it would be a bit of a pain to set up, but basically you would take audio out of the SEND of the DJM900 into your soundcard, which is then routed into Traktor/Ableton, which you can then use the FX built into that software midi mapped to the Midi Fighter. Then out your soundcard, into the RMX1000, then out the RMX1000 into the RETURN of the DJM900. you can also place it after the RMX1000 instead in similar way.
Your other option, is to switch to Traktor entirely, use the CDJ's to control Traktor in HID mode and the MIDI fighter mapped to control FX in Traktor. here's what I am talking about.
With this setup, you could still use the CDJ's as you would always do, even browse your library on the CDJ's, it would just be your "traktor library". but the audio would still go into the DJM normally and can still use the RMX1000
