only downfall so far is i cant seem to get the waveforms up in engine (if at all even possible) while mixing.

I don't think you can currently do this in either Engine or Rekordbox (as in get the waveform to display in the software while mixing). I believe it's due to the fact that all of the music processing is happening on-board the players themselves, they are simply loading the track from the Engine/Rekordbox software. As opposed to more traditional DJ software (Traktor/Serato) whereby the software on the computer is processing the music, and the players are simply sending midi signals to the computer to manipulate it.

It has cropped up as a suggestion time and again on the forums though, but it would need the software to become more traditional DJ software as opposed to simply a music management device.
