Question about mixing in this video

All he did was used the string as a grace note into the next bar... it was kind of abrupt and meh.

yup... i don't really consider what he is doing mixing.

I'm not claiming that I could do that kind of thing better or that the guy doesn't have the skill. But cutting through 50 000 songs in seven minutes without any layering just reminds me too much of radio jingles - just snort some more ritalin and add an airhorn

yeah... looks like he tried to cut in the hook on the 4th beat, but it's also syncopated..
Quite chilled, but not amazing from a technical standpoint. Sure it was ace to be at though

Looks like the people there couldn't really give a f about the actual quality of the mix, as long as his track selection suited the atmosphere everyone remains happy.
