Default Optimal Backpack for a selected Gear

    Hey,

I have been looking for a solution for carrying my gear effectively.
    The gear i hold.

Macbook Pro - 15inch - Retina. (Ofcourse with Powercable)
Audio 2 - Soundcard (Phono out - old Audio2 not the new) (Carry it in a Box made by Louie Vetton Wallet case)
    2 Phono to RCA Cables
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Xone K2 - Midi Controller with Case.
    Audiotechnica 500mPro - Headphones.
    Herculese DG400BB - Laptop Stand.

    Mini Lazer light - http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=...cket=20#detail
Philips Mic - (cheap one just for live crowd engagement-not too much of a mic-ing boy)
    Allen-Health Xone:22 - Mixer http://www.allen-heath.com/ahproducts/xone22/

    Cables.
5m Powercable for my Mackie Thump(PA Speaker)
    5m Ep to RCA cable.
2x 5m XLR Cables to connect to Mackie Thump. And 1 for extensions.

Alright now since that is done with.
Currently i carry my Laptop + SoundCard + Controller + Headphones + Stand in my Backpack
    by Techair http://www.entec.co.uk/hardware/tech...pack_S0701.jpg

The rest of the equipment i carry in a VOXOA http://www.voxoa-pro.com/products.ph...kind=16&pid=60

My problem is I am looking for a new backpack to replace the Techair backpack. No budget limitation. Need good quality. Just enough not too big. Easy to carry and easy to travel.
    Was looking to buy the

    http://missionworkshop.com/products/...k/sanction.php
    or
    http://missionworkshop.com/products/...ck/fitzroy.php

Really impressed with quality and love the design. But I'm not sure if thats the way i am supposed to go.
How do i Work this out. And i occasionally travel to different state so need to carry a few clothes also along.

Someone direct me the right way to go cos I'm tired of unreliable website without proper specifications online. Atlas missionworkshop says the Lts. or Cubic capacity.

    Thanks
    Monks

I have been lusting over the Magma Riot backpacks for a while now. I don't have one, so I can not give a first hand account of quality. The XL and XXL models should hold everything you need to carry.

SIM, really funny you say that because I have been in the same boat. Wanted an xl for a while and finally bit the bullet and got one last week. Very nice quality. Another bag I really like is the namba studio. Great design and quality bag.

Would you happen to have a 12" format mixer you could slip in there to see how it fits? I have a Denon X1600 that I'd like to take with me occasionally, and I think this bag will be the right choice for lugging it around.

    Default re: backpack

Ya i did come across the magma during my researh on backpacks for the gear.
Na hence i bought the VOXOA. Thinking that I would be easily able to carry the mixer and everything in it. But its very stuffed.
My current Tech Air bag feels gr8 and i still am able to carry my gear in it easily. As i am also a full time Landscape architect and just not a DJ. Hence i dont need to carry all my gear usually only the 3 days of the week.
    Thrusday's, Friday's & Saturdays.

I need a 4zipper bag(Compulsory) as i don't want the laptop stand hanging around with my macbook in the same location (just calls for unnecessary fatalities).
    • Hence one dedicated slot for the Laptop stand. Luckily the slot exists for A3size papers and a A3 folder that u can slide in (mousepad), which i use for my stand.
    • I put my sound card(Just bought a New Apogee DUET WOOT WOOT)+ power charger + laptop in dedicated location in the bag.
    • The controller K2 and headphones are in one location. Use this occasionally to carry my clothes or extra shoes incase I travel, for my landscape work in other cities. During such days the Controller and my Gear is left behind, apart from my laptop.
    • The rest of the pens and phone chargers and cables go in the front zipper.
    • New addition to the List is IPAD Mini. I think i can put in the back slot with the stand cos i have a hardcase shell for the iPad, which can take any sort of shock from the metal of the stand. But i wish i could carry it without the cover, carry it Bare

I am looking for a similar configaration.
I liked the magma XL (not The XXL, way too big from my understanding)

So the only controller you have is a k2? Sorry I reread your post 3 times but its early and I was out deinking all night... the xl might be over kill for you. Im just like you. I like my expensive stuff segregated. In my xl I have:

    Duet in own pocket
    laptop in own pocket
all cables inside cable case in own pocker
    ohm rgb I own pocket
    Laptop stand in own pocket
Midi fighter pro kind of in own pocket. More in between 2 pockets.

I still have a little spare space. Its not overpacked in the slightest.

It sounds like with what you have, a Namba studio would be better, IMO. With only a k2, the streamlined profile of the namba may work better.

I dont have one. But I can guarantee it will fit. Main pocket is huge plus comes with a really nice padding system with velcro and different size pieces so you can literally build the interior to the exact size and shape of the mixer.

Ya carry only a K2 as a controller i don't really need anything other midi devices for a 2channel mixing. As my current card (audio 2) only supports 2 channel mixing.

So ya. I also looked at Namba but i found something better than Namba. As i think the Namba will force me to either put the metal stand with either my laptop or with my Ipad. Since they have only 2 compartments to host all equipment.

    I found http://orbitconcepts.com/products/jetpack
The Jetpack Prime. WOW. simply WOW.
If i could get my hands on this i am sorted. everything has its place. and everything is perfect.
    Also found
    http://turntablelab.com/products/tum...ce-dj-backpack

Sadly both out of stock. and both UNREASONABLY EXPENSIVE

I am from India so I can only dream of thinking bout buying something like these and getting it shipped here for me.
$495x65=Rs.32,175 almost equal to a new controller plus added tax and shipping costs.

So choice is only left for the RIOT backpack. The XL maybe. Think it would allow me to even add MY Mixer along with my gear this time around. All in 1 bag.
But i would loved to have owned either the TUMI or the JETPACK PRIME from orbit concepts.
