You have to decide if you want your mixing to reflect your own musical taste, or whether you want to play a house/techno/breaks/gabba* set every time you play out.

Yeah I'd agree with this, whether I DJ'd or not, I know my taste's would/have changed/evolved over time.

Sure, always evolving. I get bored much too quickly for anything else. And stagnation is death.

    Well....if you care about music.

I know people who are perfectly happy to listen to the same 5 classic rock albums on repeat for the rest of their lives.

    something something great minds....maybe?

IDK...I think trance was a pretty good way to get into it. Then again people said then the same things that people are saying now about electro/prog/bigroom house.

Side note...I just started listening to the mix that someone sent me on DJF that both started my obsession with mixing without EQs and really turned me onto classic house.

I fee like "change" is the wrong word to use, as it creates the image of abandoning one style of music for another. I've definitely expanded my tastes and have added a lot of new stuff to my library, but I'm still into what I was into five years ago

My taste in music never change they juat get broader. Im a true lover of all music. This morning in the car I went from nit grit (bass music/ dubstep) to NOFX (punk) and my mixing style reflects it. As I have said before, when I mix for fun, I.e. by myself, im ALL over the place with genre and bpm. I feel sorry for people that listen to 1 kind of music, Say just rock or just country. There is so much great music out there. DJing has just been a way for me to discover even more music then I used to. Almost forces me to.

Any chance of getting a copy of that mix? I've said before that this is something that's really got my interest lately.

I think it's good to specialise whilst having a broad taste in music. The reason to specialise is to really know your tunes inside out - that's the key to DJing IMO.

Id say less changed, but more evolved. I got into DJ'ing due to trance and whilst i've skitted about different genres i still like stuff that reflects the tingly feeling and space that i feel trance projects.

i think trance/gabba/happy hardcore is the only stuff i don't listen to. otherwise i'm down with every kind of music. ranging from postblackprogressive hardmetalcore to indiebasslofi houseandbass if you know what i mean.

but i started djing because i was really into dnb at that time. nowadays it bassmusic/house/hiphop/pop and all that stuff.
I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.
