Abletons external midi sync has always been and is garbage. It slops the timing according to CPU load.

People doing LivePA with ableton usually get around it by using a hardware sequencer as master clock, or by using a midi to audio clock sync hardware or vst like Silent Way/Expert Sleepers.

here the problem is jack that is allmost an Audio driver capable of virtual internal routing. But this "driver" has not been optimized like Asio or Core Audio. For instance, if you use traktor in sync with ableton without using jack but simply using Asio or Core audio, you will not have any trouble, every maschine with an i7 (also dualcore),ssd and at least 8gb of ram is able to keep in sync this 2 programs without fluctuating bpm

The traktor and live sync is already built in in both software packages. (sent midi clock)

Those of us who have been dealing with crappy DAW midi sync for decades know how meaningless this is.
