Just to make it clear, when you refer to the input outputs, you refer to the ones on the audio 4 only? im having a bit of a hard time understanding your method. What is the purpose of going from output a to input b? Seems like an interesting technique though! will the technique stay the same once i get a mixer?

Ill try your suggestion as soon as i get home, thanks alot for your input, its much appreciated!, i ll report back!

    cheers!
It just means you are routing your signal out of and then back into the Audio 4, instead of doing the same thing in software with Jack. Its just simpler, and doesnt involve any software to troubleshoot, or any performance hit.

Set output B as the master out in Ableton, and connect to your speakers.
This is the correct way to do it.

ok my settings in ableton got corrupted i was able to get both virtual dj and ableton running at same time without crashing. Now, im trying to get the setting proposed earlier but im having a hard time getting things routed properly i guess cause it doesnt give me the results i was hoping. Routing ch a 1-2 gives me a time code signal when recording in ableton and and setting b 3-4 gives me a super loud hum... heres my settings , plz help.settings.jpg

i think youve got your routing wrong, but I cant see the detail on your attached image.

Yep you havent followed the routing.

VDJ - timecode in on A left and right.
VDJ - Master out on A left and right.

    Disable other assignments.

Take physical cable from A output left and right, and plug other end into input B left and right.

Ableton - Set recording input to B input left and right.
Ableton - Set master output to B output left and right.

    Disable other assignments.

This will be much easier when you get a mixer.

AMAZING!! it works! but i only have one issue, in ableton my "in" ch 3-4 peaks like crazy!! its super distorted, i tried playing with volumes in vdj but no avail, ill keep looking. But would you have an idea why the channel is peaking so much?

But thanks so much brother! finally works!

also, is it possible to just record one deck? now i have my samples on the left deck but the track playing on the right deck. but ultimately id like to only output the left deck to ableton while still being able to hear both decks while cutting.

Thanks you all, you ve been really helpful!
