I tried 3 different Guitar Centers, all of them were out of new Kontrol Z2s. One of them stopped ordering them simply to stock on shelves. The other 2 had their inventory pulled until further notice. At the last one I asked him to do a full scan of the Chicago land area, and out of all of the Guitar Centers in/around Chicago, a single store had 1 new Z2. Everyone else is out and not stocking them anymore.

I took the opinions on this page into consideration and I agree with Patch, there is nothing it can't do that I specifically need - hence why I went to purchase one. However, after not being able to pick one up in person, it makes me think there is something coming and I'm going to wait it out to see if something extraordinary does drop soon. And if not, I can always order a cheaper Z2 later.

The MP2015 has Traktor Scratch Certification.

I know... Actually played vinyl one night. But, I was itching (no pun intended) to brush off my old scratching skills and the lack of a cross fader made it a bit weird.
I also would like the backup for gigs where I don't feel comfortable taking a $2500 piece of art too (did a private party and they must have spilled more liquor in the bar than they drank).
The 2015 is absolutely amazing, BTW

Could always get one second hand. The Z2 is almost 3 years old, so wouldn't surprise me too much if a Mk2 was around the corner.

Notanon: I'm looking at that now. Getting a secondhand Z2 and wait to see if anything comes out.

the_bastet: I haven't looked at the S8. Not too interested in a big controller, haven't thought to implement stems, just need a 2 channel for now. I mean, that could change though.

Lately I've been on the fence about whether I would benefit from two D2s next to my Z2 and Turntables. It seems like the closest thing we could get to the CDJ feel while retaining full turntable flow. Being able to leverage the screens and keep your eyes on your gear and not your laptop seems perfect to me.

Just to note that I traded my CDJs (XDJ R1 but its the same principle) for turntables but miss some of the creativity I had by focusing on the hardware and not the software...

I like the idea of being modular and not being tied to one piece of kit like an S8. I guess I'm not sold yet on the stems. Or at least not sold enough to go and spend the money on the D2s. They look really cool but I'm not sure I'd use them to full potential. I'm laser focused on upgrading the mixer. The further I get from my laptop screen though, the more I like it.

Now that's a different conversation haha. I think the S9 looks pretty slick. It might be out of my price range though. I don't know that I can rationalize 1700 for a mixer yet.
