Firstly, I read the letter in the OP and little else in the thread cus I was levelled by this post below that sums up my position having kinda skipped the CDJ generation going from vinyl to controller (and both, mainly timecode these days) so excuse the fact I haven't read the thread properly and that there's very little point to this post.

    I could not agree more.

Ill gates is right they have won, i agree with alot of what he is saying but i cant help but wonder if alot of the reason behind his letter stems from his fustration with the tech support, lets face it has anyone ever contacted tech support for anything and not been left fustrated? i remember almost being sedated and admitted to a mental asylum the last time my hoover broke
I've owned many mixers, I've used (in my club residencies) many more and the Pioneer ones have always been the worst.
I've only actually dropped money on one, a DJM-T1 because it's Traktor Scratch certified and it was, is and will always be a piece of shit.
The concept is great but it drops midi ALL THE TIME, the soundcard is problematic bad calibration) so I dumped it and got a Z2 which I should have done in the first place cus it's perfect for me.

I posted this on Facebook a few weeks back with the line "GET IN THE BIN YOU PIECE OF PIONEER SHIT".
I will never buy Pioneer again.

I'll say this - Pioneer most certainly have won. And it's a terrible shame.

But, I do love my 850, and have never had any problems with it.

It is a great shame, as Karlos and Chael have mentioned, that guys are coming up thinking they'll go nowhere without Pioneer gear. So - Pioneer's marketing dept. has definitely won there.

My next mixer is most likely going to be either an Allen & Heath 4 or 6 channel one or the PlayDIFFERENTLY mixer that Richie Hawtin is finalising at the moment. Would prefer a Traktor Z4, but I don't think one will materialise for quite some time, which is a shame as the blue/red LED gain meter combination works well vs Pioneers green/red combination given my red/green colour deficient vision, and my Z2 has been fairly bulletproof in the last 3 years I've been using it.

That said, a Rane MP2015 would be part of my dream money-is-no-object setup.

1.) problem with all "mixers" (they are nothing but mixer shaped controllers) that use internal mixing in traktor. misaligned knobs, faders all requiring calibration in traktor
2.) reported on almost every non-NI Traktor certified gear lately. I wonder why.....hm *looking at NI
3.) I think you went from horse to a pony but...
