iConnectMIDI4+ and network / rtpMIDI
I did have network midi running from windows to my Novation Launchpad Pro connected to the din midi ports, and my x-linked pair of Allen&Heath Xone:k2 connected to the USB host port.
these would work fine to connect to ableton live 9
recently there has been an update to 9.6.1 which apparently has problems with the Launchpad pro, although i didnt know that at the time I tried to solve the problem.
solution was to downgrade ableton live, which i have done.
the problem is this, and I have gone through all settings so many numerous times.
network midi does not want to allow anything through.
settings for the iconnect midi4+, rtpMIDI, and ableton all look correct. even methodically gone through each setting one by one.
the iCM4+ shows hardware input, but never shows any network output/input except for triggering a setting change)
iCM4+ only networked using ethernet. not using usb to windows.
with devices connected to the din ports and also the usb host port.
ableton live 9.5
windows 8.1
I got the iCM4+ due to running out of USB ports on my Laptop
any pointers?

On your Windows computer, are you running any 3rd party firewall software? Check to make sure that your firewall and router are not imposing any rules that might be blocking the (what I'm assuming are) UDP packets carrying the MIDI data. You can verify that the data is getting to your computer with a tool like Wireshark or Microsoft's own tool (free).
Also, did you install an rtpMIDI driver? If so, have you verified that it's still installed and in good shape?

yeah. I've checked / disabled firewalls. got the rtpMIDI driver installed and it can see both my tower and my laptop just not throughput to the iConnectMIDI4+
I can ping the IConnectMIDI4+
This is a better way to explain why I cannot use USB ports than I ever could explain it:

I can get data through connecting midi in/out between the iConnectMIDI and my Native Instruments Audio 10 din dockets.
I used to be able to have full functionality with my Launchpad Pro connected to the iConnectMIDI4+
I suppose the solution could be to invest in another laptop with decent USB ports, and add a USB hub
that is costly, and apart from the poor USB implementation the laptop is a great performer for my needs (DJ/Producer)
the other solution is with the iConnectMIDI4+ hanging off the Audio 10 DIN MIDI, and working.
is to somehow map the Launchpad Pro using it's external mode to control ableton, instead of "Live" mode.
basic functionality I want is clip triggering, moving around the session view (up/down, left/right) and drum racks to be playable.
