Lightbulb Midi Fighter 3D for MacOS shortcuts?

I might be completely out of it but I was wondering if there was any way to use the Midi Fighter 3D with other software than Traktor / Serato in a more daily fashion.

My Midi Fighter sits on my desk and seems to be powered all the time so I'm guessing the computer (MacOS) knows it's there. How complex would it be to actually make it a usable tool for my workflow outside of a music software?

For example, there is things I do over and over through out my day, here is couple use cases:
    - One pad could lit up red when an email is received, tapping the button would show my email client
    - There is multiple "virtual spaces" on Mac but the shortcut are just not good enough for my liking, and when I'm on one, I tend to forget where I am. Quickly tapping on the buttons of a row on the MD3D would be so much better, visual feedback is really important for me, LED colour of the button would change to show me which virtual space I'm on
    - Shortcut for a media player?

I mean surely I can't be the only one that wishes to use a 4x4 little device to create shortcuts for his workflow right? I know Razer and other companies already have customisable software to control their hardware in a similar fashion.

Here I feel like I have the perfect hardware (damn it's satisfying to press these arcade buttons haha!) for what I'm after and the technology seems to be there.

Is it possible? How much work would be involved? Can I help?

I can highly recommend Controllermate - its a very usefull software from changing the stupid MacOS mouse acceleration curve to utilising every midi device you want from shortcuts to even complex operations.

Its not programming, its more like node based but takes a small amount of time to learn.
