The best way to find them is actually through Yahoo Auctions Japan or a flea market app called Mercari, though. Hard to use either if you don't have a permanent address in Japan and don't speak Japanese.
Thanks eggy, I will have to do the easy way will look for those shops, I ain´t gonna have much time either to scan the better deals, anyway I am from Brasil where the price for mk2´s are ridiculous. I have already done some browsing on the power DJ´s website and the prices there look very honest to me.

Best of luck to you! Hope you find a great set (though I imagine bringing them back might be a bit of a chore...).

Very cool. That happens to be one of the busiest time of the year for travel, so I may actually be out of the city--but please give me a shout either way. I'll be happy to give some recommendations if I'm not able to meet up.

Thanks AB! I'll message you sometime in the spring and see if you'll be around! If you happen to come across an SL 1210 MK5 before then let me know...

    Sounds good.

I just ran a quick search on some of the apps I use and was not able to come across any. I'll let you know if I do.

    Thanks man!

Would it be possible to bug you for ish to do in metro tokyo? for the time being i temporarily have a hotel booked in shinjuku (using my travel points), but I'm wondering if i should be staying in other places as well like shibuya or roppongi... I'm not going to be there for long so i mainly want to hit cool urban spots during the day and enjoy the nightlife...

No need to book a hotel in Shibuya or Roppongi if you're going to be staying in Shinjuku, as both of those areas are within a 20 minute train ride (assuming you're fairly close to Shinjuku station).

There should be more than enough to keep you busy if you divide your time up among Shinjuku, Shibuya and Roppongi.

For clubs, WOMB is probably your best bet (AgeHa is another famous one; but it's out in the middle of nowhere...)

Besides that, just wandering around and checking out places that interest you would be my best advice. There's honestly too much to list.

Default My experience buying technics turntables in Toyko

I have just returned from Japan and here´s my feedback to this thread:

I went to most of the shops mentioned in this thread and was hard to find the used technics. Power DJ´s does not carry them. I bought 2 mk5k´s @ disk union in Shinjuku, they carry lots of 1200´s of different models, all in great condition. Disk Union in Shibuya the one on the floor where they carry old hip hop and techno records also has many 1200´s in stock I´d say 12 to 18 on average. The only catch is that in both places NOBODY seems to speak minimal English so getting any information on the decks is near to impossible, some do come with the orginal boxes but I couldn´t figure out which. I bought a pair and they assembled boxes that in the end were not the original ones. Prices will vary according to age, condition, extras, and they seem to be aligned with reality on Disk Union.

If you venture outside of Tokyo, I might have a good tip for you. There is a shop Called MangaSouko that sells all kinds of used stuff from video games to toys to Louis Vuitton stuff, Sports Gear, Records, and Turntables. I went to the one in Okinawa and there was a pair of mk6´s in mint condition for less than 500 usds. I did not get those because I wold still catch one flight and a train before leaving Japan so the logistics were def. against me. This is also a shop which is good for digging, found some really nice records.
