Xone 23c, need some help

Hi there,

Big digital DJing noob here, and first time posting on these forums.

I just bough a Xone 23C mixer, and i'm having some issues in getting everything set up.

My set up at the moment:
Mixer is connected by usb to pc, and two cdj 900s are connected by rca to the mixer. cdjs also linked by ethernet.
The monitor output from the mixer goes to my amp by rca, into the TAPE output, which is connected to two pairs of bookshelf speakers.

At the moment I can hear both cdjs fine on the two channels, and my computer plays it's sound through the first channel. However, when I'm cueing a track and want to preview it on my headphones, there are some issues. When both cues are off, the main mix plays through the headphones, even though the CUE/MIX knob is turned all the way to cue. Twisting that knob does nothing, both CUE and MIX play the master output through the headphones. If I turn on one of the cues, it works fine for that channel and you can only hear the cue from that channel on the headphones. I'm pretty stumped as to what I'm doing wrong, because it seems as if the master/monitor output is routing to the headphones, and I don't know why.

I've also set up cross on my computer, and the computer recognizes the xone as an external soundcard, but I don't know how I set up everyhthing up so that I can use the CDJs and the mixer to control Cross.

Cue Mix acts as it should AFAIK. For the DVS read the manual and see a YT video named "ALLEN & HEATH XONE:23C - DVS Umbau" (in German, but it may still be helpful).
Curious to see how you control the dvs gain and your opinion on the cross fader and up faders.

Could someone confirm that there's no bleed on the gain knobs? Like, when they are down to zero nothing leaks in the master, even if it's turned up by a lot?

I don't think gain/trim is meant to work like that?

Like what? You can cut the channel to zero with the gain knob, right? Now, is it absolutely cut or you can still hear something (by flaw)?

No, you can't. The gain knob is there to trim what's already outputting. If I turn the trim down to zero on my Xone:62 or 92, it still outputs what ever volume you set the channel slider to.

Hm, we are missing something here...The trim knob regulates what's coming IN the channel, it's before the line fader in the chain. How and what would you "trim" otherwise? It's even marked with infinity sign on the left (zero) side.

I ask the question because 23c has no input selectors but gain trims for every input, so when you want to select an input you turn the knob up, and the other input knobs down. When you use dvs the phono trim should be set to zero but if it bleeds you'll have timecode in the master which would make the soundcard useless for dvs.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t. The manual explains how to set the mixer up for DVS, and there are YouTube videos showing off that it works fine.

Because of poor quality control. There a many complaints about the faders, crossfader and dry/wet knobs on these series (23, 43), so there's a real chance the gain pots go out of order too, at some point. I hope you realize why that would be a problem for the dvs (explained above).

Sure, if you've already read many complaints about this mixer, I wouldn't buy it.
