Beat to DMX controller, any ideas on how.
We are hosting parties at various locations, eit movable gear, 4-5 DJ:s 2-3 computers windows and mac. Virtual dj in use by all of us.
One 4 channel mixer as main audio mixer,
There are booth and rec outputs available from this mixer that then have all the music from all players. Reloop rmx60.
Dmx controller
Stairville led commander 16/2 for lights.
Some led bars, lasers and moving heads connected to dmx controller.
Untill now the controller has been controlling our lights by internal sound control, but it is very crude, levels are too loud, so the sensitivity has to be adjusted way down.
Now i am lookin g for solution preferably hardware, that could help me make the beat regognition better and more precise. Does not need to be exact, but even little better would be fine.
Controller has audio input (mono rca) or midi input (5-pole)
Audio is clear way, but signal should be better. Or even better if there was a way to get beat tap signal from audio to controller automaticly.
Midi channel 1-16 (adjustable) and midi value 39 (tap signal for controller)
Preferrable solution eould ve something fairly cheap and hardware, since there are allready enough of computers and complications on the table.

Music Visualizer
Hey, I came across your post by accident through a newsletter. I am developing a technology for myself, the purpose of which is automatic intelligent transformation of the music flow into light images. The technology is completely intelligent and will allow creating images and synthesizing light compositions depending on the style of music. I have several completed projects. The technology is currently not compatible with DMX. But I have mobile DJs in Ukraine who use my light synthesizers. They really like that there is no need to write a special sequence of control of light sources for a musical composition, that they can now focus only on the music, and the visualizer will repeatedly enhance its perception. I would be interested to know your opinion - the visualization of prototypes can be viewed on my YouTube channel, search for Catcatcat electronics.

My mindset exactly.
I think your project goes far beyond my needs, but anyway.
In our show we play dance music from 80s to 90s and newer. We dont plan our songs beforehand, we dont have a playlist. We have Tidal. We take in requested music during show and play live with audience.
Analyzing music pre show and planning the lighting to ot is really not suitable for our case.
Lights on show we would just like to setup and forget.
What i can do, is to make various sequences to my dmx controller to use in shows.
Now the problem is just music to ligt automation.
Beat tap to controller like spesified is needed. As is with integrated microphone, the sequences are not at all accurate. Skipping steps and or missing beats due to gain differences in songs ets.
Next step would be to trigger different sequences on controller (possible thru similar MIDI commands) depending on the music type or mood. That would be a dream, but really secondary to the reliable beat.
As is it is only press of a button to change scenes or activate/deactivate scenes in known points of a song.

Music Visualizer
Here is a link to an example of the technology. The video is being recorded for broadcast. And to compare how the device reacts to the music stream in comparison with a program written by a person for lighting devices.
Here the visualization goes to a linear array of light sources. This device is really designed for home use, but here you can see how the algorithm copes with its work.
