I think a combination of both is pretty cool.. some things are cool about touch sensitive stuff. But for me physically using pots and faders are my fav!

Having both, I can back Bento and nem0nic. There are distinct areas that touch based controls squash the old fader and knobs.

Any x-y pad is a perfect example. You can manipulate and x-y pad with one finger, which is essentially acting like 2 rotary knobs and a switch, or 2 faders and a switch.

I can have my EQ's completely controlled on my lemur, however, it feels better to use them on the korg, not because I couldn't control them better on the lemur, but because it feels better on a knob.

I also know that it's impossible to manipulate 8 trajectory based x-y points on a grid when using regular analog gear. In-f'ing-possible to smoothly operate 16 controls by hand. Easy on my lemur.

Default it took me a while too

    ...to realize..
that all have to do with the SCS is touch the eq one time in one place and it's set.
Same thing with the CF, the volumes, everything. I know where I want the setting-middle, 3/4, 1/4, and I touch it there... done.
Let's say you wanna change the settings gradually, those little lights are handy for that. I touch the slider/fader one light at a time and always know exactly how much I'm moving the control.

like ive said it earlier the good thing about touch sensitive controllers is that i can control 3 effects on deck A plus lower down my mid on my eq on deck B with just one hand on my scs3 system which i cant do with one hand on knobs. or sliders. thats the reason why i love incorporating touch sensitive controllers into my knobs and sliders controllers. touch sensitive controllers comes in very handy in situations like this.

Wow, buckaroo, that's a heavy proclamation to make. Unprovoked at that.

Not that I feel that touch pad controls need any more defense, but there is a place for them controls in a tactile knob/fader world, as quite a few of you have expressed.

I really do appreciate controllers which show clear understanding of the DJ workflow and accentuate the functions and ergonomics of both. As time goes on and the usability of controllers progresses, designers of these tools are going to be wiser to where touch pads belong and where they don't.

Right now we aren't seeing a lot of this, but controllers in the next few years will really hit their stride. The quality vs. cost of the touch surface components are a really big issue right now, in my opinion. Otus' touch surfaces are usable but sub par. Stanton's are not too shabby, but a far cry from the mouse pads on most laptops, which ironically trumps all of these in terms of tracking accuracy and a solid feel.

I'm looking forward to seeing how these controls are brought together. As long as you keep them off of my mixer, I'm all aboard.

Jesus Christ I can't even have an opinion on here without someone taking offense; you're defending inanimate objects like I was talking about a person. My opinion was unprovoked, listen to yourself, are you serious dude?

What? He can't express his opinion but you can express yours? Welcome to the internets, Patrick.

I never said he can't express his opinion, I was just pointing out how ridiculous it is.

You're trying too hard to find something wrong with my reaction when there is nothing there. Please keep the douchebaggery on djforums. For the rest of you who are lost here let me clarify: there are some members here who know me from another forum and like to act like assholes and troll me for fun where that kind of posting is condoned and encouraged. I just ask they keep that behavior over there.
