Default Have no ability to monitor with headphones vci100

    My equipment is as follows:

    Compaq presario CQ40
    Vestax Vci-100
    Sennheiser HD280
Traktor Pro 1.2 with 2.5 tsi
    PreSonus Audiobox USB

I have tried messing about with just about every control I can think of externally and internally, and I can never get the monitor to work on the track I'm trying to monitor to mix in. I put a couple mixes up online but I don't like the way they sound because I have to look at the waveforms and turn the level up just a bit to hear the drums, which of course everyone else can hear when listening to the mix.

Just had a look at your soundcard dude. Ok so i assume that you have your phones plugged into the box. So in your output routing in traktor the output master should be set to 1&2, and the output monitor should be set to 3&4. Also headphone volume & mix, have a look at that. Other than that i couldn't say.

In the only Audiobox USB driver in Audio Setup that seems to to work, there's only 0 and 1, nothing beyond that, and I can only select Master or Monitor. Nothing else. I don't know why it's doing this, or not doing what I want.

The only reason I'm using this type of sound card is because I don't have any firewire ports on this. The laptop was $311 new, at Walmart *gags*

Sounds like that particular card isn't suitable for independent monitoring then, if you cant select more than two outputs. Some guys in here swear by the firebox though for djing, maybe they can help you more.

I'm thinking that it's that sound card for some reason. Looking at ones from Lexicon, but it has to be usb.

There is only 0 and 1 for the output routing in either the monitor or main out. If I try and put a duplicate (which isnt' possible) it "steals" say 1 from monitor and puts it where I'm trying to put it under main output. There is no 3 and 4, or 2 and 3 as the sequence would probably be after 0 and 1.

This is even true with updated PreSonus driver ver. 2.8

This card only has a stereo output (the headphone is a duplicate of the main output). You will not be able to get monitoring out of it. All DJ softwares need a card that has al least 4 outputs.

Looks like that card is more set up for recording buddy. So unfortunately eis, you'r gonna have to get another card if you want to monitor. Something like the NI Audio 2 or the DJIO would be perfect for you.

Or build an aggregate sound device. If you on a mac its easy. On a Windows Laptop you can do it with Asio.... I think. But this is just a poor work around. Getting a proper sound card is the way to go.

Try the Fast Track Pro, nice card and it also gives you a Mic in.
