Traktor Scratch Pro, with Midi Controller as Mixer

HI there my first post on here just wondering if you ppl had some thoughts on what I should do...
I'm wanting to keep usage of my Total Control and KorgNanoPad but purchase some timecoded stuff.

I want to eliminate using an actual mixer all together and instead use my total control as my mixer with traktor in internal mode..

I'm rather confused on what I should buy??

I wouldnt be using more than two timecodes ever so only need to cover my two turntables?

What would you purchase in my scenario?
Baring in mind I already have TSP(legal version through an education system)

I have seen the MAYA44 and Audio 4 and Audio 8 but I'm trying to build a reliable yet reasonable priced setup???

PS How would I wire this kind of system up???

wait how come your looking for a soundcard if you TSP, i thought that came with the audiodj8?

I have an education(full standard version) through my mother as she is head of IT for schools in South Yorkshire so I get a lots of free software with multi licenses

you're going to need a TSP certified soundcard if you want to do timecode (there is a long thread about workarounds for other cards here but i'm not sure whatever came of it)

so that really limits the cards you can get, what about the audiodj4 if you are only using two tts?

except you don't... you just need a way to input line level signals from your turntables. No need for a NI stamped card at all, I got two decks working with a presonus firebox with little trouble.

The trick, of course, is getting line level signals from your turntables - you have three options... a) get a pair of stanton str8s, which have phono preamps built into them. 2) get a pair of cheap phono preamps and plug them in between turntable and audiocard. 3) get a soundcard with phono preamps built into it. the best choice for that being an audio4/8 of course.

Long story short, unless you like poking around with things and encountering lots of annoyance, just suck it up and buy an audio4/8 and be done with it.

edit: also, hate to break it to you, but you're only going to enjoy mixing internally with a total control for so long. you're looking at eventually getting a setup like this

2x used techs (craigslist, ebay) - $400 at most
1x audio 4 - $200
1x decent mixer - nuo 2.0, xone 22 - $500ish

firstly thanks for everyone's help, I went ahead an got the audio 4, I do have a mixer and my turntables but was wanting to use my total control and nanopad for my effects, looping etc.... So I thought I'd use them quite efficiently, I figured that doing this way would make there no need for an actual mixer?? Opinions??

Awesome work guys!!! simply amazing. Anyone have any tips to getting started with this sort of thing? stock photo sites, how you do things ect. I'd love to give this a shot next time so any info would be great

If you have Traktor Scratch Pro, you just setup your VCI or whatever midi controller you using and then make sure you have the Timecode part setup in the prefs.

Then you click on the letter of the deck (A or B or whatever) and choose the correct setting in the drop down.
