can someone suggest a live sound mixer?

I really appreciate some help. Sorry for the long post.

I am looking for a mixer with multiple outputs, one being dedicated sub output.

I did some reading and research and I think I just want to kill myself now...

For simplicity, lets just say that I have four amps (don't really need to go in to the speakers)

two amps for full range (these amps do have line out)
one amp for midbass / highs (no line out)
one amp for subwoofer (no line out)

I got everything together now, but I would like to improve on it.

The two things I don't like are:

1. RCA cables are used for the source (then, TRS and XLR from amps one and two to amps three and four)
2. No electronic crossover.

I would like to have a mixer that has multiple outputs, preferrably all TRS / XLR, and at least one dedicated sub out or the ability to do an active crossover.

Does this make sense?

So, the outputs would be something like this:

(XLR or TRS)
one stereo or two mono full range
one stereo or two mono high pass
one mono sub

If you don´t need a "real" mixer for other inputs and just want to distribute signal to your amps why don´t you go for a dedicated speaker management system smt like this

I'm not sure if Behringer upped the ante on their mixer's BPM counters. If not, they're terrible. I've got a 4ch mixed that use from them and aside from the effects not being dynamically driven by bpm, the beat counters are probably the worst part. If you don't use them, or plan to, it's not bad. I've outgrown my mixers quality (bleeding sliders and knobs), but it's still a good one to have some fun with. I only bring this up, because like many companies, Behringer's reputation preceeds them.

@Req : the bpm detection in their more recent ddm4000 seems to be pretty decent (and the effects are synced by default). Overall it seems to be their best mixer by far.

Actually, I don't even currently use the Behringer BC DJ controller, (I use internal traktor mixer), or CD players, so the preferred thing I would want would be something like a sound card with USB in and SUB out.

Problem is, I check the stores and there are like 100 different choices...WTF? sound cards, dj mixers, pro sound mixers, converter boxes...

I need to get the signal from my laptop to all my amps and I want balanced and not unbalanced.

That is why I thought that the VMX1000 seems logical (and cheap). Good for future expansion. If I didn't use the Behringer BC DJ controller I could just use any old cheap USB to RCA soundcard.

So is there something out there like the VMX1000 that has USB in and sub out so I can have one stop shopping? or should I just forget about that get a cheap sound card? I have seen plenty of mixers with USB in, but not with USB in and Sub out.

What budget are you talking about... How much would you like to spend on the mixer?

good question. I guess that all depends on what all I need to get.

The Behringer BC DJ controller I have now is on loan from a friend. (I had been using my laptops headphones out to a gemini "DJ" mixer, then RCA out from the mixer to my amps.

The VMX1000 is only $199.

And the Behringer BC DJ controllers (2000 or 3000) are only $150 to $199. And they can basically assume the role of a sound card (USB in, RCA out), correct?

So, for $400 but I will be set.

Unless I am missing something.

Oh, where I am right now, I have no need to input audio in to my laptop, I only need output.
