I switched from PC to mac OSX mainly due to the MIDI support in OSX. So far, no looking back to PC.

HAHA, the old, "Once you go Mac you never go back!"

    OH OK!

So I need a VGA monitor and use my VGA to DVI or MINI DVI adapter! sweet as thanks Stephen!

I narrowed Mini LCD screens down to a company called Xenarc! They make models from like 7" all the way up to 12-14" with basic models and also touch screen equivelants! Good stuff cause there are some agents for them in AUS I can go through!

Rather buy reputable stuff cause no namer shit usually is...no namer shit! haha!

dude if you got a VGA out put get this $6 adapter http://www.amazon.com/S-Video-3-RCA-.../dp/B000Y7T5UU (VGA to S-Video/3-RCA Adapter) and a cheep portable dvd player (one with the Yellow 3-RCA input or S-video input) or any cheep little flat tv would work (they all have the 3-RCA in's, some even VGA)

MY Mac mini is DVI so my monitor is the VGA!

I have a VGA in to DVI out so I don't think that will work unless you get a DVI in to Svideo out or whatever?

If you can go better than VGA, I would. Most monitors now are higher resolution than VGA, and if you buy a new monitor, make sure it has the newest connections like HDMI or DVI

To clear it up, most DVI is analog signals, and most HDMI is digital signals running through the cable. So, look through your info on the mini and find out what kind of signal is output from the mini-dvi or minidisplay port, and find the correct connector/cable for the job. The better choice is HDMI if you can sport it though.

I'm pretty sure my mini is DVI!

If you were me, would you spend about $350 AUD beefing up the Mini?

Like it's a 1.66 GHZ Intel Core Duo with 512MB DDR2 Ram and 80GB HD!

I have looked at ebay for upgrades and for $350 I can get 2x1GB DDR2 Ram, 500GB HD and a new DVD drive to replace the one that currently doesn't work!

Is it worth doing those upgrades? To my knowleage a 1.66 Intel Core Duo means that it's actually a 3.2ghz processor or there abouts if my math is right?

Therefore with the upgrades and keeping the same processor, It should still haul arse and handle traktor like taking a piss yeah?

    Thanks guys!

Don't really know the conversion rate, but I know you can get the brand new model for really cheap. I also have a place to get mac memory that is really cheap at www.crucial.com, but don't know where they ship.

How I decide on most major purchases is the write down the pros and cons of each solution, the price, and the use and how well it fits it's intended use. If you can find 5 pros and cons for each and take a step back, the better choice usually picks itself, and usually isn't the most expensive solution either.

The brand new model is about $850 here in aus!

If I get that and a small lcd screen I'm better of getting the macbook then! I'm really in the middle of what makes it a hard decision!

    I just realised something...

I could get say a big flight case one the flips open so I could attach a 17"-19" monitor to the underside of the lid so when I open it up its a huge screen and in the case have my mac mini, pad kontrol, vci, etc! It is less than half the price of a mini little lcd screen cause they are dear as like $700-$800 for a 10"!
