I don't mind the odd bit of chit chat and a little high five or touch but if its clear they're being annoying and disrupting the set, they have to be told to move on.

Otherwise it's one person ruining it for everyone else at the party and as a dj you have a responsibility to the overall party not satisfying one drunk guys curiosity.

You let someone come and muck up your set, you will be blamed by the promoter. If it's your job and your being paid then you need to keep your shizzle professional innit
    Precisely!

@ Jack Bastard. Ok, chill out mate.

You all don't know how lucky you are to have people bothering you while your doing your thing. If those people your all hating on weren't there, neither would you be. So just let them know your busy and move on. It's all part of DJing. If you crowd is to stupid for you then give me a call. I'll be more than happy to come take your gig. I love the drunk people. The loud, ignorant, sweaty, inquisitive, money spending drunk people.

There enjoying the culture that we live. Don't expect them to understand.
I can see where it might sound like we're complaining but man you've yet to experience the worst of it (which we're referring to) drunk fools refusing to take there drink off the booth right next to your laptop & equipment.. or even gettin' there hands on your kp3 that they have screaming synth noises 3 times louder than the outgoing audio.. if someones asking questions cause they like what you do that's cool, but if there messing with you, your stuff, or most importantly your set, you can't be all smiles & nods.. got to drawl a line.. well yo hit up my homie Pat for club connects an PHX he might be able to set you up: http://www.myspace.com/patrickhernon to name a few he spins at "2 bit tuesdays" and "party foul"

I have to say, the best part of this thread is the direct comparison between brain surgery and Dj'ing. hahahaha. "FUCK, you touched my jog wheel! I have to breath manually for the rest of my life now because my brain wont do that anymore!"

woohoo bedroom dj... I wish I had people other than myself to mess up my sets, within reason.

I just don't have the heart to say that to anyone's face, so gotta say it in a forum. How does anyone handle these kinda peeps? You know the kind... the ones that are out of it and feel they need share their knowledge of music with you because you are playing shit they like. I mean, you gotta love the appreciation but when they come up and chat nonsense and wanna shake your hand after every track you drop it gets a bit tedious. All I can do is smile give them a thumbs up.
Oh Classic! So its not only me. Yay! Yeah....i have had this. Shaking my hand...thanking me for playing his favs and freaking out everytime i drop a mix. Rolling on the floor...yeah. Must have been good shit. Still......made me look good....him like a twat. And some odd entertainment... Its like a party cue point. Like....when you refer to a party...and i always use those dodgey incidents as reference. When that fat chick climbed the scaf up to the Speaker array.....etc. Haha

I was at the Millennium dome one new years eve and the DJ stopped the music and the MC suddenly came out with "Oi spiderman, what the hell are you doing up there?". Turns out someone had scaled the struts that hold up the whole building, they literally climbed right to the top. If anyone knows the Millennium dome you'll know how high that is. Crazy nutter.
