    Devil's Advocate real quick:

The point of the anti-controllerism folks on the Serato thread isn't about not using a controller or not button mashing, it's when you do that 100% of the time that they take exception to.

So all these posts about how they use a keyboard or purchasing/using a Dicer is incorrect. They are saying to use a controller as an addition to your setup, not as your only means of dj'ing.

For actual mixing, I'd much rather use CDJs or a controller, even if I had the cash for a vinyl setup.

    Good point, well made.

But they wont get drawn into the Dicer conversation. Weve tried.

One guy bashes Hotcues as cheating. Some of them cannot accept anything other than Mixer/Decks/Laptop.

My last post in that thread discusses the odd idea that DVS is some noble art, greater than controllerism.

If the goal is to be more like a pure vinyl DJ then their argument falls apart. I touch my laptop way less with TSP and an X1 than any SSL DJ. And way way less with a VCI 100.
All i do is search for a song. If its a programmed set i could put my coat over the laptop and pretend there is no laptop. SSL users are wedded to their laptops and their overlays.
Whos the winner here: No-one. Is not a competition ... oh wait , no it is, in their heads they are upholding the tradition of vinyl. POOP...!!!

Anyway i had fish & chips last week and you werent there... That bites. Come see me.

    Explain..?

The biggest point that most people are making is... Who Gives a Fuck what the medium is as long as the music is good.

We can all play the one-up-man game with our gear but its boring. But no-one on DJTTs ever calls anyone for whatever method they use to make music. Those guys at the Serato forum hate on ANYONE using ANYTHING other than SSL. Fucking bunch of children... I have SSL using friends who are close on ashamed of those forum guys. I dont know anyone who is ashamed of anything that gets posted on here (with the exception of a few of us in the "Iz Drunk" thread but thats more embarrasing than shame-ful).

Dont see any pot/black talk there dude.

BTW: weather is fucking terrible in N.W. UK at the moment. You getting all that rain we are getting Preston

I started this thread out of pure shock. I had no idea there was so many harsh feeling towards people using controllers. It never even accrued to me that people would have a problem with it. I started DJing in 94' and I remeber all the people making fun of me for scratching and calling me a wigger. I just thought that was stupid Missouri hillbilly shit. But I guess close minds are not restricted to the Ozarks, it's worldwide.

I'm kinda new over there on the Seraro forum, I been using the software since it came out, just never really checked the site. The level of professionalism that comes from there users is really low. Maybe cause Serato has a bigger bandwagon than Traktor, I don't know. It does keep me intertained though.

Honestly, I think it's great that there so close minded to it all. Let us keep all these amazing new controllers and software to are self. There loss. There hate just fuels me to show off.

Good point there. I suppose my reply to that would be:

1, I don't want to spent loads on a traditional set up.
2, I don't want to (in my opinion) waste space using a massive setup when I can do more with less space.

This sort of technological rivalry has been around for hundreds of years though. Old-tech-lovers hate the new-tech-lovers. Then sooner or later the old-tech-lovers die out and the new tech becomes the old tech.

It's like the cycle of life.

The best way to live in this cycle of technogoly is to just go with it. Holding on to something that is arguably inferior doesn't help move things forward.

That's not to say you can't still use the old tech. I'm all for a bit of nostalgia and I love playing a bit of N64 with friends at the weekend. But in the end my mega death ultimate gaming PC that I've spent far too much money on is far superior in the long run, it will however become dated and need to be replaced like every other piece of technology out there .

I'm not sure whether this attitude is bad or not though. Has it's advantages and disadvantages.

bit of thunder and lightning, plenty of rain but you can bet there will still be a hosepipe ban

i admit there are a few serato users that are morons, but then in this thread, a few users here slag everyone over there off, i think thats a little unfair.

if people ain't happy they can make a complaint to the mods as im sure people do here.

there is plenty of room for serato and tracktor and looking at serato's current development, its looking more like trackor every new release.

isnt it better to be the bigger man and complain about nothing to no one rather than resort to petty insults.
