Thanks for the response! That's exactly what I was looking to hear
I'm psyched about this controller, gonna be submitting a preorder very soon. I actually have one more question.
If you aren't using any sample decks, do the 4 sample play buttons for each deck then turn to cue points 5-8? I could have sworn I read somewhere that they do, but I haven't been able to find confirmation of it.
I just spent an hour doing cue point juggles for Chromeo's Fancy footwork and Bonafied Lovin that would be perfect for a re-edit intro, I could really the Loop Recorder right about now, FML. This wait is going to kill me.
Just ordered mineWith a set of HDJ-500s, will probably get one of the 2nd shipment of S4, but I'll be one of the first with the HDJs. I'll let you guys know whether they're any good.

It is a perfect controller.. very solid ... very responsive
The faders feel nice.. buttons are direct.
The sample decks are great.. and very easy to use.
There are a lot of double functions on buttons that will take a year to learn them all
Great controller !!
You can do 3 full decks and one sample deck.
so there are a lot of possibilities.
Hey Karlos, any chance you guys have an Ableton Live Bible? Or something comparable? The damn thing is ten times more complicated, but that much more useful esp for producing.
All the guides available kinda suck. They all teach you one way to do things. Ableton is comparable to Photoshop both in complication and openendedness. There are about a dozen different ways to sample a part of a track and play it on a midi keyboard. From what I've found, your best resource is google and youtube. Preferably youtube.
I've been through a lot of guides (video) for Ableton Live. And the fact is that most of the guides are not very informative or useful. They only teach the basics. I have come to realize people create these mediocre tutorials simply to cash in because people will buy them because they believe they will learn from them. Some are just downright horrible.
I have come across one very helpful tutorial though. Made by a very clear and knowledgeable instructor with very useful information. The presenter is Stephen L. Smith and I believe the tutorials was made by VTC. But it is for an older version of Ableton, Live 7. Not many differences and should be very helpful. It was the tuturial that finally made me say... "Ahh, I got this. Ok I think I understand what everything does and how to do it now!". Good luck!![]()
